Absolutely not.
Even as a huge Gyokeres fan, you can’t put them in the same bracket at all.
But in the long run, 5 years from this, he might well leave a better impact for us that Ozil.
I was just refering to their achievements (their legacy/rating) prior to the move. Totally different levels.
I’m just happy we are finally getting a proper, potent goalcorer. Would be similarly hyped if we got Vardy at that time we were after him. That would be a good comparison imo.

I think it is too soon to judge Gyokeres because he needs to prove himself in the PL. If he bangs, and I hope he does, he could well be considered an elite level signing, and exceptional value given the transfer fee we are paying.
Clearly, you moving this thread back into the Rumour Mill was sufficient to force the ‘Here we go’, so thanks for getting this transfer moving again.

Signing Ozil was just the fact we were signing someone really fucking good at the time rather than a need.
Gyokeres is a signing based on a need (That we hope can be amazing) that’s been neglected. It’ll be like if Wenger signed a DM instead of relying on the bums he normally did.

Gyokeres performances aside for a moment, I absolutely have huge expectations regarding our announcement video.

This is a very good analogy, although I don’t think Arteta not signing a striker is down to him/his stubbornness, whereas with Wenger it was comical in the end that DM was never properly addressed. I’ll never forgive Wenger for not signing Kante.
What else could it have been down to? Certainly wasn’t due to funds.

I’m now convinced that Edu spent last summer trying to sign Sesko but failed to get a deal done and then couldn’t secure any other targets. I think Arteta has been really clear over how he wants to strengthen the squad.
He’s been clear that he wants to strengthen the squad, but I’ve seen zero sign from Arteta before Jan 2025, that he cares about the value of having a proper bags man up top.
The comp and expectation level is similar to when Giroud signed from Montpellier
tbf arteta has chance sign striker in summer 2023 because he can sign marcus thuram for free
also he has chance sign delap for only 25m pounds in summer 2024
I’m 100% sure we wanted a striker last summer and Arteta wasn’t happy with the strength of the squad going into last season.
Tbh there are probably loads of players we could have signed. I’m not an advocate for signing a player for the sake of it, particularly if they are average. This is such a key position and we need to sign a quality player.
