Massive Jurassic park nerd so this along with GTA 6 is maybe the reason to finally upgrade the Playstation to a 5.
Gaming is genuinely in the pits right now and getting worse. One scam/failure after another. At this stage you simply canât get excited about a single release until the product is out and the reviews are in. Had really high hopes for Undisputed as it was the number one hope for a new and good boxing game but even that appears to be going to shit.
Ironically itâs the games with less of a marketing campaign like Baldurs Gate 3 that are delivering whilst Starfield was another scam from Bethesda.
When youâre one of, if not the best RPG ever made, then you donât need much marketing
Same goes for GTA VI. You could do zero marketing, and I bet that game will still beat all records.
Dunno, this has been one of best years ever for games.
Plenty of shouts of being the best ever as well.
Thereâs always gonna be flops but this year had games BG3, Zelda, Mario Wonder, Lies of P, Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2 and many others.
Dust Collector Pro coming out next year. LFG!
There has been a massive leak at Insomniac, pretty much revealing their roadmap for the next 10 years which includes some other Marvel projects(Venom, SM3, XMEN).
Plenty of Wolverine footage leaked, the plot and even the build as well.
Could be a massive blow for Sony and Insomniac. Marvel could very well sue too.
What I hate as a casual gamer that started on a Sega Master System, is that these days you can barely play anytbing without the need to constantly update games or be connected to the Internet. Multiplayer is mostly online (see first point), games are released unfinished and then constant updates follow, games are just a cash cow to milk every last penny out of people.
Point in case, I play a lot of Gran Turismo 7, Iâm a car nut, but I also donât have huge amounts of time to commit so just mostly switch on and play, the credit ecosystem whilst it has got better is bloody awful, any new way that is found out to farm credits by grinding races is patched outbquite quickly, most races is you grind them for credits legitimately, youâre looking at a 4 minute race for 1.5m credits tops, the Mclaren F1 in the legends garage costs 20m credits to buy and is not the only 15m+ credit car, they at every turn try to do as much as possible to irritate players j to buying in game credits.
Itâs a shit show and now after nearly two years after release and countless massive updates do we finally have the version that shouldâve been released.
Twats.
I donât mind some game updates, provided itâs a game that was reasonably polished from the start.
Loot boxes and virtual coin annoy the hell out of me though.
I used to love that basketball game thatâs been around for over a decade now, but the people who made it have gotten so greedy I just stopped bothering.
Also games like FIFA and the American football game that are pretty much the same year after year - all they do is slap a different player on the cover and release the same game.
Gran Turismo 7 is very much like this.
You get a reward ticket awarded for the driving marathon, exactly what it says, driving the distance of a full marathon once per day, these tickets range from 3 stars upto 6, you also earn them as a bonus for completing certain challenges but theyâre a load of shit, giving you tuning parts for cars you donât own or tuning parts you already own⌠Example in case, Iâve just received a 5 star ticket, open it up and itâs mustang engine worth 122k credits, I donât own a car it will fit into but if I delete it or sell it I also wonât get the credit value for it. Itâs such a shit system.
I guess this should be considered big news now.

Been rumblings about it and some mixed messaging from Microsoft regarding Xbox studio titles being ported to Switch and PlayStation but now we know multiple titles are actually going multiplatform.
Feels like Xbox are now becoming a publisher and will focus on Game Pass. Very likely their next console(which apparently will come sooner than PS6), is going to be their last.
I think Xbox might be being very savvy with their recent moves, looking to a future in which the console wars are a thing of the past.
Consoles have generally been sold at a loss, with the manufacturers knowing that the profit comes from game sales, so there would be a lot of sense in Microsoft focusing their attentions there (worth noting that software has always been Microsoftâs bread and butter really historically). Though now, and even more so in future, its not selling physical copies of individual games, but getting people to subscribe to their service, like you say.
As market leader for home consoles, Sony have tried resisting this, and were the ones who were most reluctant to accept cross play. I think Microsoft and Switch got on board with crossplay with PUBG and Minecraft first, and Sony initially refused, before giving in. And it makes sense really, as theyâre the ones winning the console war and shifting the most units, so they are going to try and resist crossplay because their hope is that everyone will just buy playstations cos its the only way to play online with their mates who all already have a playstation.
Xbox fucked up losing so badly to Playstation in the PS4/Xbox 1 era (after doing so well with the Xbox360), and again in this latest generation, and they clearly realise they arenât gonna beat Sony in future either, so it makes sense to pivot away from console production.
Weâre not quite at this stage yet, but cloud gaming, phones and streaming direct to your telly are going to eat up an increasing chunk of the gaming market, leaving consoles less and less relevant than they once were.
Xbox are making a big push to go digital only btw. Retailers are reportedly no longer stocking physical Xbox games and their next console will most likely bot have a disc drive.
I donât think Sony are far behind on that because with the Insomniac leaks, there is enough evidence to show digital sales make significantly more profit.
I think by 2030 we may look at physical media as a thing from the past. Not only among games but entertainment in general.
Yes, the move to digital has been very obvious for some time now.
I still tend to buy physical where possible, unless the digital version is vastly cheaper.
I like physical media generally, not just with games. I have a vinyl collection of roughly 50 records and I still buy blu rays occasionally. If I really like something I want to own it, not depend on a streaming service to be able to enjoy it.
Not when digital versions cost double.
Physical games have been cheaper for every game Iâve tried basically
I also like the second hand market, so fuck digital only. Sony and Microsoft get fuck all from that market, so of course thatâs motivating them to move to digital only.
Iâm always at least one generation behind the curve and appreciate being able to pick up cheap second hand copies of games, rather than being forced into paying whatever Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo charge in their online stores.
I ended up with probably 30 or so Xbox 360 games back in the day cos I bought a ton of games second hand for ÂŁ5 to ÂŁ15 years after most people were done with them, and it was great.
I recently bought Metroid Dread second hand for ÂŁ20 which was about half what Nintendo were charging.
Nintendo are the fucking worst, they barely ever drop the prices of their games. Theyâre still charging the full 50 quid for a digital version of Mario Kart 8, which was released on Switch 6 to 7 years ago, and was originally released on the Wii U a fucking decade ago!
When consoles go digital only Iâll defo move to PC. Literally no incentive to stay on console buying over priced digital games with worse graphics and no second hand market.
Wonder if this will ever release
Being released this year. Just a case of how late into the year we have to wait.
Iâm really hoping it plays as good as it looks, because it looks hype af.
Hoping you can go in, heavy-handed, onto university campuses.
Mafia 4 is another one I am looking forward to. The first two were meh, but the third installment was really good fun!
