Maybe it does with those 3 veteran Emery signings, but for me it’s a moot point, sneaking into the CL only to be a non contender for a season or maybe 2 is pointless.
Rather play the long game, take a few years to arrive, but when you do actually be a contender for the CL and a consistent challenger for the EPL like we are now.
Villa have also bought really well. I’m not sure how much influence he has on their transfers but I think it was pretty clear he didn’t have a ton of influence on Arsenal’s transfers. The whole Pepe over Zaha thing was kind of proof of that.
I think it’s going to be a really tight game this weekend. Can absolutely see us losing. I still don’t trust Raya and they’ll be ready to test him from corners.
Am sorry but he did nothing of the sort today. We lost because of us being pathetic in the final third, not because of Emery’s brilliant tactics or his team’s performance. I really expected Villa to batter us today. Emery is a good coach but today’s result was more because of our issues than anything he did.
Overall it’ll go down as beating both of us back to back
A win is a win and they got two against 2 title contenders in the same week, says a lot about both Emery and Villa
@Aussiegooner yeah I know, we have ourselves to blame but still this is Villa we’re talking about, how many teams have beat us even when we’re under par
15 home wins in a row for Villa. Unai Emery is clearly doing something right. Though I’ve been hearing that we got fucked by the refs/VAR on several occasions.
Is that true? Did it make up for the poor effort up top from our players?
If I were a Villa fan, while I would be celebrating this win, if I am being honest, I’d know we should have lost this one, and comfortably. This was not a 2nd vs 3rd game, more like 2nd vs a mid table side who took their one good chance, and then did little for the rest of the game, getting huge slices of luck (partly due to our profligacy and partly due to the ref) along the way to get a win.
