Depends, if someone was working for the company for a certain period of time then I get it.
Even for football terms and today’s standards, Emery’s tenure was short and most importantly bad.
One of my best mates supports Everton, we were discussing the other week how how two clubs are comfortably the biggest under performers relative to size. Depressing times.

Imagine living in Aus and supporting Everton. I mean in the 80s it would be understandable. They probably would of been favourites for the European Cup/Champion’s League in 1986 and held onto Linekar if not for the ban on English clubs. When Liverpool played them in '86 they had a banner stating the CL winners, Steau, implying Everton could well have won it as a piss take.
His old man is Irish and supported Everton, so sadly for my mate he didn’t really have a choice. EPL hasn’t been much fun for him last 20 odd years.
They did have some of the better Irish players in the 80s if I remember rightly, Sheedy probably being the best

What has this guy been doing the past year ffs? Progressively turned into a Championship club. Whatever excuse people want to find about the players not being that good, you can’t tell me they’re that bad to be on a relegation trajectory right now.

The signs were there before we hired him tbf. We knew what we were getting with him, but we chose to jump from the frying pan into the fire anyway.

Listening to Rafa talk about him last night on MNF and how Unai changed his approach at PSG into a ‘possession’ one, seems to me that we hired a guy trying to play differently to what he’s used to.
Reverting to more conservative methods (3 dms) is probably a thread that runs deep in his methods but maybe PSG/Arsenal was the wrong platform to simulate this with. The players at PSG mutinied against his ways and essentially wanted him to play a formation they were suited too. Arsenal clammed up, whether under instruction from Emery, but I’d side more with lack of confidence/no faith in his system.
A strange hire overall. I really think personality in a manager is quite an understated quality after all of this.

It’s possibly the most important quality.
A manager might have the expertise and qualifications to technically be a top coach but without the personality to convey what he wants his players to do, it’s not going to work.
A lot of the best and most successful managers are renowned for their lack of tactics but rely more on team spirit, team morale and a will to win, like Ferguson and Wenger, who both had strong personalities.
It seemed as if Emery was a fairly good coach, fairly successful and fairly experienced but not outstanding and lacking in personality and charisma.
It also didn’t help that his communication skills were poor, so implementing any tactical skills he had, was going to be difficult.
At a big club the pressure is far more intense and you are under far greater scrutiny, that’s why any manager that isn’t elite won’t succeed and why the next choice must be of the highest quality and proven at this level.

Feel bad for them honestly… always had a bit of a soft spot for the Toffees.
