Unai Emery

It interesting to see the stats after the game yesterday and previous ones. Especially the ones showing possession because it not broken down.
It should be attacking possession and defensive possession that would give a true picture of the state of the game.
Why is it we have major possession in the games with less shots on goal. Now I know and you guys know but not sure the board see it.
Emery is constantly trying to find a formula which works against teams with pace and constantly fails. His formular puts us naturally on the back foot because the players are following what he believes will ultimately work, but it’s proved only to do so in the latter stages of a game when the opposition is tiring.
Allowing Emery till December to change things won’t work because he can’t see why his formular doesn’t work and the board can’t figure out why either.

I wish we had Watford’s board

Arsenal football club is in the entertainment business and I’m not sure the board fully understand that. The manager is not there to keep the board happy and the board are not there to keep faith in a failed manager, both are there to keep fans happy or Arsenal football club will lose fans who are happy to spend money.
The next manager may be the biggest bastard in the world but if he can win trophies he will make the fans happy and the board will have to live with it or leave.
Time for the board to wake up…

Edu and Raul are cunts.

I think if we don’t have or can’t get anyone now, we should go all in on Biesla.
It’s shit or bust time and we could surely get him right now.
Fucking around with Freddie is going to be a waste of time.

This, I find it ridiculous that we should have to accept the season being a write off from November. Were fucking Arsenal football club, we have one of the richest owners in the world, are one of the richest clubs in the world, have a massive world wide following, state of the art facilities and stadium, are based in London, with a squad easily capable of qualifying for top four.

If the board really really want someone we have enough money and pull to make it happen. Money talks and everyone has their price, Allegri, Pochettino or even those in jobs like Bielsa or Gallardo or Ten Haag, really shouldn’t be an issue for us. It really shouldn’t

Agreed

There’s that whole argument, though, about gate receipts. If we, as fans, keep attending home games, the board are none the wiser (the Liverpool board used to be like this when Hodgson was there, but then I believe they had a near empty Anfield for a cup game against Northampton and that ultimately cost him his job- not the bad results)

I’m not entirely sure how the ticketing system works or the proportions of season ticket holders to general sale people, but aren’t season tickets prepaid for? If season ticket fans don’t attend games in protest, the board still win as they’re still getting the money in. If the vast proportion of silver members/general sale fans don’t attend, the stadium will look eerily empty.

Only then, I hope, will the board understand and, a lot like Liverpool did with Hodgson, a new manager comes in.

(Sorry @Bob, don’t know why I replied to you directly! I just made a general point, see if anyone could shed some light)

We’re not even a sleeping giant like Liverpool.

We’re just dead.

All due respect, mate, Liverpool were dead when Hodgson was there, even arguably when Rodgers had his first shambolic season.

That all wasn’t that long ago.

We, as a club, just seem dead because we aren’t willing to fight. We weren’t willing to fight when Chelsea were winning titles and we look even less respectable now.

I understand your point on gate receipts and of course the club wins at the start of each season of season ticket holders but as you say empty seats at games don’t spend money at the stadium.
My point is I have both Sky and BT sport and if I can’t stand looking at a disfuctional arsenal team I’m going to drop BT. I nearly did this season in the EL but it’s the only time they play well.
No new shirt sales would hurt the club for a start but I’m sorry we’re in this mess and board members like managers need to be judged equaly.

what peope just dont seem to be getting is that they are talking about names we can get, but we WILL NOT be able to get them in fucking november. People talking about Haag etc, do you honestly fucking think that Ajax are gonna just let him leave right now, not even january right now in the middle of the season before christmas break when they could be playing their next match in a couple of days…bollocks are they. Allegri may be available but yet again i cant see any manager worth their salt coming in in november maybe January at a push but November not sure…no we arent getting poch he has already said that he has something lined up and i am damn sure it wont be us and i dont think we will go anywhere with him anyway…so where the fuck does that leave us maybe ljungberg but who knows how that will work out considering he is meant to be a part of the staff under emery.

You were actively encouraging meltdowns yesterday but this is the line you draw? It’s the teacher in you isn’t it?

Good thread this

Yeah this is really the calculus at play… the error was made in the summer when they should have acted… waiting “one more year” to see is now haunting them massively. I’d be perfectly fine with Freddie b/c I believe anything is better than what we have right now and I am realistic that we will NOT get a permanent solution until next summer, but many people moan about not firing Emery but equally moan about “Freddie would be no better.”

Fact is, that is the extent of our choices in Nov and probably Jan.

Sorry, this board is so cheap that don’t even want to honor a player’s contract

even darren bent is weighing in, the guy is an assclown of the highest order but what he said is actully quite true.

‘l dont think he has a clue, when people start tinkering it is because they have no idea what to do. There has got to be a change.’

There’s no passion out there, no hunger and obviously no tenuous plan.

Playing under this pillock kills one’s love for the game, we see it every week. The guys aren’t having fun, there’s a sense of embarrassment that is taking root and it’s sad as hell to see.

We’re seeing very little accountability and looks like it’ll continue, Emery won’t be sacked until he commits an actual crime. They’ve had so many opportunities to act and yet remain impassive, I blame them more so than Emery at this point. Just like Wenger he won’t go unless pushed.
