Trump

Fuck me, I had to stop a quarter of the way down

And how do you like this, boys and girls:

This is so conflicting.

Israel is killing civilians and there is no condemnation from US who started the whole conflict under the guise of confronting human rights violation happening in Iran.

At the same time, I don’t think Iran’s concern for Lebanon is about civilian deaths, rather their desire to maintain Hezbollah’s presence.

There is nothing to be conflicted about. There is no world where Hezbollah should disarm whilst the goal to annex large parts of Lebanon remain. So there is no world where I will criticise Iran for their support of Hezbollah given the decades of Israeli aggression and their obvious geographical aims.

You’re seeing with your own eyes right now that Israel are targeting civilians and doing it on purpose. They’ve displaced a million people and want to take the southern parts of Lebanon for themselves. There would be no Hezbollah if Israel hadn’t spent decades trying to war with Lebanon and annex parts of it.

Remember as well - Hezbollah have been a democratically elected party many times in the Lebanese government. They are not an illegitimate means of governance.

Someone should just nuke Israel and have done with it. Somehow this nation runs the world and has the west eating out of their hand.

Unbelievable how power was enough for these suckers to sell themselves.

Nothing specific to trump really, almost anyone in Washington will sell their soul for a step up the ladder.

It’s just a little bit more obvious this time.

Only posted it in the Trump thread because it was related to him but obviously agree that these power hungry fucks will do whatever no matter who is above them to get some power and influence.

Whilst attacking the Pope.

I think for the Evangelicals, Trump is their Pope.

Interesting strategy.

He is helping Iran crush the world economy :arteta:

I do wonder if this war will be a catalyst for the eventual collapse of the petrodollar? I read somewhere that petrodollar usage was something like 57% compared to over 70% at the beginning of this century.

Surely enough countries should be questioning if tying themselves to America economically and becoming reliant on them makes sense anymore..

He might as well be their god. You can’t really consider evangelism as a form of Christianity or religion in the traditional sense.

It’s like a loose collection of personality cults organized around extracting money from desperate people.

There’s no real theology involved just borrowed religious aesthetics like crucifixes and sometimes Catholic style religious garb—stuff a person already brainwashed by traditional organized religion would recognize and be drawn to. The prosperity gospel stuff is especially appealing to people raised in a culture where morality and wealth are conflated.

It’s literally anti-christ shit :merino:

Lately I’ve been diving into the murky waters of Christian Fundamentalists, and the whole rapture/end times prophecy. Not only do a lot of them believe in this, but they think it’s in the process of happening right now.

Which would make Trump the anti-christ, promising peace but bringing chaos.

Watch out for talk of the Third Temple being built. That’s supposedly another sign of the end of days.

From what I understand the “The Rapture” comes from a fantasy book series from I think the 90’s. I remember seeing tv commercials for it when I was a kid.

From what I understand the rapture narrative doesn’t actually appear in any religious texts—Bible or otherwise. It’s just another American invention evangelicals ran with because it resonated.

If someone grows up on a mix of Star Wars, Star Trek, other Sci-fi and First Testament end of times doctrine it’s easy to understand how they could come to believe they’ll be beamed up to safety while the world burns.

It’s a very materialist, capitalist idea that you could somehow physically escape the complete destruction of the planet.

I think we don’t realize it, but we are in the early stages of what will be studied in the history books of the future, as WW3.

Whether the dollar will lose its reserve currency status depends on who wins the war. My money is on the eastern block, so yes.

But even more than that, with the rise of AI and human job automation, capitalism and democracy as we know them will die as well. China have already morphed into a comunist-capitalist state. If they come out on top, that model is more than likely to spread globally. The future will probably look like universal basic income, surveillance and limited personal freedoms.

I don’t even know how historian would be able to accurately capture the chaos of social media, Trump government’s alternate truths, AI etc.
I fear decades from now, new generation will look at internet archives of Trump truth posts and take it literally.

The terminology may indeed be a modern creation, but the prophecy itself is referenced in several places in the Bible. I can’t remember if it appears in the New Testament, but it’s certainly in the Old Testament along with all the other fire and brimstone stuff.
