I know, and we should have dowman in our 8 role.

Oh yeah, I forgot you wanted him as an #8/#10. Maybe long-term but surely you want him go start out out wide?

Nah I like him in the middle and since ode isn’t on form then he has the chance now.

Nwaneri is the wide player imo, they seem to be used back to front.

Dowman has the edge on take-ons so I’d favour him there.
I didn’t even know he had crossing like this in him too which I’m a bit unsure with Nwaneri.

If memory serves me right, Nwaneri got assists with the hooked cross from the RW (Merino I think scored from them).

Ethan and Max bond one the right-hand side for the Arsenal sounds quite lovely to me, don’t care where either plays.

I remember one against Leicester but it wasn’t anywhere near as impressive as Dowman’s yesterday.
Speaking of that game, that was the last time Nwaneri shined at RW and probably the last time Nwaneri shined in general.
He got a run after that and he simply couldn’t reproduce that level of performance.

Let’s see how Dowman fairs now if he’s given more opportunities.

What’s that smell? :face_with_medical_mask:

Those who wanted Rogers back in December, do you still want him now?

Paging @Starboy

On a serious note and saying this as a long time hater, for the right price, yes.
And if you’re gonna ask me what that price would be I’d say max 60m, which I very much doubt Villa would sell for.

As I said, doesn’t really make sense with the way we’ve gone now in midfield and he’d cost too much, but he’s still a good player, 13 G/A in 29 games despite that drought. Agree around 60m would be a good price worth doing.

Even haalands on a bad run, people not taking him given the chance now either? :joy:

Very nerdy of me but just throwing out some young non-Arsenal players off the top of my head I’ve watched this season and think they’re promising.

GK: Roefs, Suzuki
DF: Kayode, Ahanor, Scalvini, Palestra, Veiga, Martim Fernandes, Dahl, Fresneda, Khusanov, Acheampong
MF: Fernandes, Anderson, Wharton, Kone, Sa
SS: Endrick, Kroupi, Mora, Paz
WF: Ngumoha, Schjelderup, Prestianni, Pietuszewski, Cherki, Estevao
ST: Sesko, Esposito, Ferguson, Castro, Bonny

Anyway, as far as a wishlist is concerned, I’d try to keep it somewhat realistic in terms of budget and the positions I think we’d target.

DF: Kayode
MF: Fernandes or Anderson
WF: Barcola

Like the look of Kayode. He can speak Italian with Ricardo and our new midfielder, Sandro.

Signing Kvara and Alvarez would be an upgrade but realistically Arteta won’t be buying both a top quality LW and striker for more than 200m unless he sells Havertz, Jesus, Martinelli and Trossard to help pay for it, especially if he wants to strengthen other positions as well.

So the more likely attacking signings would be players like Gordon, Tonali, Fernandez, Anderson or Pedro, who are all quality but not that much better than what we have, although they are certainly good enough to be regular first team options.

I’m not sure what is realistic or not this summer. I think we will strengthen and I think we will look to add a couple of top quality signings in 2-3 positions. We need to evolve the squad but I’m not sure we only need to target younger players, because I think we still have a relatively young squad.

I’ve added a CB option, as I think we should send MLS on a season long loan next season. Calafiori and Hincapie should remain our LB options, so there could be an opening for a younger LCB to come in as a long-term replacement for Gabriel.

At RB, I think Benny Blanco will be here next season, but if we did sell him, I’ve added a couple of options.

Personally, I think our priorities should be a Central Midfielder and a new Striker, and if Trossard leaves, a new LW. My current thoughts are as follows:

  • CB: Murillo (23) (Nottingham Forest) / Castello Lukeba (23) (RB Leipzig)
  • RB: Tino Livramento (21) (Newcastle) / Michael Kayode (21) (Brentford)
  • CM: Sandro Tonali (25) (Newcastle) / Elliot Anderson (23) (Nottingham Forest)
  • LW: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (25) (PSG) / Morgan Rogers (23) (Aston Villa)
  • ST: Julian Alvarez (26) (Atletico Madrid) / Benjamin Å eÅ”ko (22) (Man Utd)

LW - Kvara or Vini level would be unreal, but the latter definitely unrealistic. Alvarez an option if we look for someone to help both LW and CF. Barcola realistic.

CM - can’t fully tear myself away from a creative CM/CAM as much as I joked yesterday. I want the option to play Rice at 6 with 2 creative players alongside.

Gavi, Nico Paz or Cherki when city get relegated. Could also just go full ball retention and put Vitinha next to Zubi and Rice. Tonali the best option if we look inside the PL and for a more physical player.

FB (<23) - think this makes more sense than a CB given Hincapie and Cala can both play there. A young FB who can play either side gives us a successor to White should his fitness not improve next year. Livramento a great option but expensive given his injury risk, sure there are others worth a punt. Joaquin Seys seems highly rated but not really seen him other than when they played Barca, wasn’t a good game for defenders.

Sell - Martinelli (sad moment but about time) + one of Trossard/Eze.

Loan out - MLS.

Bring back into first team squad - Nwaneri.

This is Arsenal heritage, make it happen Berta

I learnt today that Christian Kofane is only 19 years old.

Bring him to the carpet.

Him or Kroupi JR as our development striker please. Maybe next summer after a year of regular football.

In: Kayode, Tonali, N’Dyiae, Alvarez

All players with Prem experience. Dowman, MLS and Nwaneri to play cup games and be trusted (maybe only one at a time) to start certain games.

Out: White (reluctantly), Salmon (loan), Norgaard (15m), Odegaard (60m), Martinelli (70m), Trossard (25m), Jesus (10m).

Oh

Want to sell;

Kiwior, Vieira, Nelson

Norgaard - seems more like a stop gap that we were fortunate not to rely on too much. Need better competition in the spot.

Odegaard - really inconsistent now. Lacks courage

Havertz - Maybe strikers just don’t thrive under arteta? Or, maybe we haven’t found the best fit. If he stays does he just become the next Merino?

Gyokeres - i wanted him to be the striker we needed. But, i was wrong. We don’t play to his strengths and his downsides don’t suit the play style. Can’t fault him for trying though.

Trossard - you just don’t know which trossard is going to turn up game to game

…and Jesus

Could be sold;

*Kepa - promote setford perhaps?

*Zubimendi - Rice is a better DM than CM. Zubimendi would end up benched. I’d also swap for DeJong, Flamingo or Camavinga.

Merino - not a striker and not really done enough to show he can deputise CM.

Eze - being able to count his good performances on one hand is not a good sign for someone who has made themself unavailable through inability to command a starting position.

Martinelli - there aren’t many wingers that work as hard. But financially it makes sense

As for a wishlist, the long list currently looks like; (* = depending if their team fails to qualify for UCL)

ST (x2) - *Joao Pedro, Guirassy or Alvarez, as well as one of; Muniz, Watkins, Santiago Castro, Panichelli or Rayan Fofana.

LW (x2) - Yildiz (who can also play as a striker), Adeyemi, Ndiaye or Uzun. Plus; Maeda, Schjelderup or *Ngumoha

CM (x3) - Paz (if available. probably not, so…), Ederson, Uzun or LeFee and Smit, Ouedraogo, Adzic or Gabriel Sara for left half. Fabian Ruiz or Kang for right side.

DM - Bouaddi, Mokio

…Hincapie…

…and Brandt…maybe.

Hopefully the club will rethink how they define experience going forward.

I don’t see any need for defensive changes, but depending on other transfers…

LB - Bartesaghi, Juan Miranda, Jordan Bos, Antonee Robinson

RB - Kayode, Arnau Martinez, Fresneda

CB - Noahkai Banks, Jon Martin

You want half the team sold?
Is this a knee jerk reaction or have you been saving this for a while?
