Transfer Wishlist

Ok so now the league is over…it’s going to be a big summer…IF we get back into the CL next season, here’s my wishlist - combination of using some youth from our existing team, clearing out the dead wood and just plain awful players and bringing in some quality…

‘Ramsey Replacement’
Either: Bruno Fernandes - £85m release clause (but Sporting may sell for lower) - Ideal replacement for Ramsey and likely to be sold by Sporting this summer. Surely no room in City’s squad and Chelsea have a transfer ban. If we did get CL football we would surely be able to compete with Man Utd for this player.

Or: Nicolò Barella - £40m - Scouted regularly by the club, box-to-box style good passer of the ball, highly rated and done well at Cagliari.

‘Monreal Replacement’
David Alaba - £40m - Bayern signed Lucas Hernandez for €80m putting Alaba’s place at risk. We are one of the few top teams that will be on the hunt for a LB in the summer. Proven player and at 26 he is still got his best years ahead.

‘Xhaka Replacement’
Adrien Rabiot – Free - Box to box midfielder who would be an automatic upgrade on the error prone Xhaka.

Iwobi Replacement’
Reiss Nelson – Promote to First Team / Offer New Contract.

‘Welbeck Replacement’
Eddie Nketiah – Promote to First Team / Offer New Contract.

‘Elneny Replacement’
Joe Willock – Promote to First Team / Offer New Contract.

‘Mustafi Replacement’
Either: Matthijs de Ligt - £70 – Great player already, big future, but a lot of competition for his signature.

Or: Harry Maguire - £50m – Proven CB in the PL and at 26 still has his best playing years ahead.

Or: Kostas Manolas - £30m release clause – Strong CB and could play well alongside his compatriot Sokratis.

‘Cech Replacement’
Either: Jack Butland - £20m - Butland is still at Stoke despite their relegation to the Championship and would likely relish a return to the PL. Could directly challenge Leno for a starting place at the Emirates.

Or: Fraser Forster - £10m – Would be a reliable back up to Leno.

In addition, I do think we need to strengthen on the wing with Nicolas Pepe and Ryan Fraser representing great options but we can’t rebuild the team in one window!

Also think we need another RB but Maitland-Niles has shown he can cover this position so we may be able to make do for 2019-20, but would like us to sign a RB next season so we could see Maitland-Niles play more as a central midfielder.

I agree with these but realistically I think we’ll keep Iwobi, Xhaka and possibly Chambers or Mustafi.
Emery seems to like Iwobi and has given him plenty of first team games and the same with Xhaka.
As for Mustafi, he is on high wages but could be a useful squad player but Chambers is on lower wages, so he might prefer to keep him as cover

That’s still a lot of money off the wage bill and some transfer fees for a few players.

As for the Ramsey replacement, we really need to get some decent quality in for such an important position.

I agree that Butland would be a great signing and wouldn’t be that expensive, considering he is experienced at the top level and Forster is decent as well.

The CB is going to be more difficult and a player of de Ligt’s quality is unlikely to come here, especially if he is seen some of our defensive performances and lack of defensive coaching here.
Maguire at 50m is too much for a player that is good but not top quality but if we could get him for nearer 30m, it might work out.

Most of the players you have mentioned, going in or out, would be good and I agree with, but I just can’t see all that happening in this window, even if it needs to.

We need an inspiring and well planned window that would really give the players and supporters a lift, as well as strengthen the positions that we are desperate for quality in.

It would also be great to get a marquee signing, to show that we have at least some level of ambition.
But this is an Arsenal board that has never come remotely close to doing what we need, so no matter how much we want it to happen, it’s not going to come anywhere close.

I’d rather spend what funds we have on 5 or 6 solid players who fit in with our system rather than 1 marquee signing. Butland, Alaba, Rabiot should be the starting point along with the promotion of Nelson, Nketiah and Willock. Maybe a cheeky bid for Jadon Sancho too. Bolster the English ranks.

Also worth pointing out that this will be the last window where we’ll be able to pick up cheap EU wonderkids without needing a Work Permit so we should really cast our net wide across Europe and show some imagination.

Jadon Sancho would cost a fee much more like a marquee player, rather than a solid player.

not convinced by him either, players can fuck shit up in that league on a regular basis and come here and be bang average. Prime example i swear that Kolasinac was once voted player of the year, but we have got him and i wouldnt vote him player of the year even in our squad and our squad is dire for the most part.

So paying £100m for him i wouldnt be sure of that, i just dont see him being that sort of player i reckon you would spend that and instantly have buyers remorse…i could see him just regressing to a decent squad player like an upgraded AOC.

That sounds just like what we need.
A player that good would walk into our first team.
I’m in. :grinning:

Kola voted player of the year in Germany ?. Got a link of that from somewhere ?

That comparison to Sancho is a poor one anyways, Sancho was an 18 year old kid getting 11 goals and 14 assists in the league, which is just absolutely outstanding and rarely ever happens. Generational talent.

He got in team of the season in his last season with Schalke.

Don’t think he got PoTY

He was in the bundesliga team of the year. Think mav has just got a wire crossed.

Yeah that is right not player of the year. But still goes to show that people felt he was the best in his position in the league for that season. Not saying he is hot garbage but shows levels!

I think the same could be said of Mustafi and Xhaka.
Weren’t they very highly rated at their clubs in the Bundesliga?

Yep. Mustafi was linked with the Italian giants a lot and Bayern was interested as well.
Xhaka was seen in the same vein as Fabregas (he wished) given his age and leadership there.

Kai Havertz scored his 20th goal of the season today. He has 20 goals and 7 assists in 42 games this season.

Just how bloody good is this kid?! Surprised he isn’t a Bayern Munich player already really

Only 19 years old too! There’s our marauding CAM if we wanted one, he just costs £80M

Lol Iwobi is there

Tbf the amount Iwobi sees of the ball around the penalty box he really should be doing more with it, it’s a shame his final product is the most depressing thing I’ve seen in a while.

I really think we should be going for Ziyech and Fraser, especially if we sell Mkhy.
