He didn’t judge the signing as in it’s a good or bad signing. He said that he had a shit touch which he has tbh.
Still judging the player. Did you think he had a bad touch while playing for Sporting?
At this age, one’s first-touch doesn’t seem to improve with time. It is what it is. His hold up play is also not up to par; loses most aerial duels but hope we can just play to his strengths; as we bought him to bang in goals, that’s it.
Yes.
Gyokeres>>Etiquette
Not saying he is a bad signing yet. I’m not sure him adapting will inprove his touch. He’s definitely built to play a certain way but tbh I haven’t been overly impressed with his work inside the box as yet either. I think Ekitike or obviously Isak would have been better for us.
We need to have a serious discussion about Antoine Semenyo. What a player! He scored twice tonight and got an assist for Bournemouth against Fulham. He plays on the LW and is apparently an Arsenal fan too. Personally, he is rapidly becoming my first choice to replace Trossard at the end of the season.
Thoughts?
I’ve been talking about him for a while now but some didnt seem too keen.
He’s clearly taken another jump forward this season. He should be our top target alongside maybe a young striker. Depending how our midfield player go this season (namely Nwaneri), we might want to look at another midfielder too but with a new LW, Eze can be used more centrally.
He’s destined to sign for united and turn to shit.
Leave them at it.
You want him to be the starting LW?
How about Eze, which you guys want him to start also.
Doubt we have have that many young starting quality players sitting on the bench to rotate.
When Saka is fit, he will log major minutes, and Noni possibly need to shift to left to play a bit to get play time.
trossard replacement next season
Semenyo on the LW, alternating with Martinelli next season.
Eze is best at No.10 or as a Left-No.8.
Lets not.
We don’t have a #10, we have two 8s.
Do a head count.
In midfield we have Ode, Rice, Eze, Zubi, Merino. Where is Nwaneri playing? MLS?
LB we already have Calafiori and Hincapie.
In reality, starting quality players play more than half of the games, and star player like Saka plays majority (bar injury). Who wants to sit half when they can play 70% (or more) somewhere else?
Pretty sure Noni was sighed for Saka’s backup and LW rotation. Then you have Eze who could also play part-time there.
We have 3 No.10s in Odegaard, Eze, and Nwaneri. I would say Odegaard and Eze can also play as a Left/Right sided No.8.
Semenyo would be a substitute for Trossard on LW and would not affect our midfield options.
We need strength and depth. I’ve long argued for 4 midfielders - 2 defensive i.e. Zubimendi and Rice; and 2 attacking i.e. Eze and Odegaard. This gives us excellent options throughout the season.
Nwaneri will get his chances, but given his age, he needs to accept his game time will be more limited.
Noni is clearly backup/rotation for Saka on the RW.
It is another year we are talking about, Nwaneri needs more playing time.
It is not video game that you can rotate that much. The best 11 have to play together, significantly more than the rest.
I don’t really see us getting a high profile LW next season, even Trossard leaves.
Wasn’t particularly sold on Semenyo, but he’s gone up a level this year. I’m guessing his new contract has a clause, so we should trigger it in the summer.
Me either, the links about a young winger with potential make more sense.
Same for a CF maybe, both young with time to grow behind the starters.
It seems likely that Jesus will leave Arsenal, either this coming January or next summer. With Havertz entering his last two years of his current contract and with questions remaining about whether Gyokeres is the striker for Arsenal, I wonder if we will be in the market for another striker next summer?
Is there anyone better out there then Julian Alvarez that we could target? Thoughts?
