Hes on about a billion pound salary. He’s unlikely to be going anywhere.

Araujo, Torres and Raphinha are all interesting.

Wonder if we get Torres on a sneaky loan with an option?

Would definitely take him. Probably more of a summer move though.

need a LB, so I would take Balde

Exploring realistic options - Kai Wagner is free in the new year. Nouhou tolo. Both in MLS and could provide the opportunity to send Cedric the other way. Or would it be worth a chance on maatsen at Chelsea. Somewhere around the 20mil mark doesn’t represent a huge risk for a young player.

I would personally sooner go for Raphinha. Excellent option for cover/rotation on the right wing for Saka.

He’s the one.

De Jong and Osimhen. That youngster from Ajax, and some cunt to play wide, perhaps Neto from Wolves?

That cunt Gabby Jesus can play wide when Osimhen joins.

Have mentioned that previously and certainly not against it. But if we had the opinions of Saka, Marti, Jesus and a Neto type for those wide positions then that would give us more that’s for sure.

striker please…thank you!

Only as a backup. Varane? 20mil? Wages could be a concern.

Would he join as backup when he will soon be a free agent and presumably a lot of interest?
Although as you say wages will be prohibitive to a lot of clubs. I’d happily have him as a rotation rather than backup - we’ve been lucky (other than end of last season) with Saliba and Gabriel playing nearly every game, but it’s risky.

Question mark of whether United would even sell - yes it’s £20m or nothing in 6m but with their injury problems they already have Evans playing a lot. Get fair few supposed to be returning in Jan but would be worried if I was them.

He’s on £350k, would have to take a big paycut to join. But probably the same wherever he goes, barring Saudi clubs/PSG

Hell No! Varane is semi retired now. Completed the game with France and Real and is in England for a payday. His next will be in Saudi.

If we want to sign a United reject, I’d be testing the waters for Sancho on a loan with an option.

Varane was United’s best defender last year, would be this year too if not for injuries and the fallout. He’s only 30 still.

I don’t hate it as a short term move but not for anywhere near 20m.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

This is the issue - wouldn’t mind paying it for a player on low wages, but he’ll want the big bucks. And if we sign on a free in the summer, probably even bigger bucks.

Imagine Saliba getting injured and being able to throw in the previous iteration in Varane

Varane is available on a free transfer next June, and is supposedly on 300k odd a week, so it’d have to be no transfer fee to be considered even for a second. And imo, those wages would need to be halved, at minimum.

Not at all interested personally.

Arsenal signed jorginho this window last season and you were happy about that…A fair comparison?

Very different situations for me. Completely different. We were a young team in a title race for the first time in all of their careers. We had a gaping Partey sized hole in our team also.

Jorginho has won every club competition and was an established player in the league. He was a brilliant pick up.

Varane looks a shadow of the World Cup winning centre back of a few years ago, is on huge wages and wouldn’t be a starter in my eyes. I doubt he’d be coming to join to sit on our bench, so why break up the league’s best partnership for a United flop?

A more apt comparison to Jorginho would be Thiagho Silva or Matip and we aren’t signing either.
