Interesting take, I think Iāve downplayed Partey in the past too. I can see where he comes from although he overreacts a bit.
He is a player that Arsenal are missing. That all-around #8 that with great physical attributes.
Heās 27 now which is prime age - the cost of players in this bracket is the least value for money.
In an ideal world where there are plenty of young CM options out there and given our need to be astute in the market, this is a player we should not be splurging on.
Signing him on a big 5 year contract means he will inevitably be another player we keep until the very end of his deal with no sell on value. This has continually hurt us. He wonāt be worth anything near Ā£40-Ā£50m as a 30 year old, and he wonāt want to go anywhere if heās on a massive salary.
Doesnāt make sense from a financial point of view at all, but we are so piss fucking poor in central midfield that we need to do something major to upgrade this area. But I feel this is a bit desperate - the financials donāt make sense based on the figures being reported.

The age thing might not be great but Iām surprised his Stats arenāt so good since he passes the eye test with flying colours.
Every atletico game Iāve seen (mainly the big games) he has been immense, starting with that 2nd leg against us in 2018.

If he did his homework he knew we have Pepe, Nelson, Nketiah, Torreira, Saliba, Tierney, Martinelli, Guendouzi as 25 years or younger players. That is without whatever young players are going to be added. Sokratis, Ozil, Luiz and Mustafi are out of contract soon. The whole age thing solves itself. Some experience added to that might be what is needed anyway.
