For sure they were talented but they clearly didnt give af and were selling. Wenger fixed that, which is maybe harder than having a ton of money just to build a new team tbh.
Funny thing is, they are right Wenger was given a much better team when he took over than what he left the club with. However Wenger was dealing with a very mediocre team and was still qualifying for europe and making cup finals semi finals. When Emery took that team over he actually improved on what Wenger was doing. Dunno how u can look at that and say Wenger left the team in shambles. A few upgrades and a good manager and ur probably getting back into the CL pretty easily. Club is a fucking mess up top tho with no direction.

Honestly thought we had control of midfield pretty well considering they let us do whatever we wanted there.

Can someone esplain the logic of this to me. Partey is a CL midfielder right now and the linchpin of our team. So we decide to go out and buy a bunch of youth guys to develop to come good in like 3 or 4 years once the best player we have is old and past it? Make it make sense.
Then when Arteta fails its gonna be becuase we dont have a good midfield and we need to go out and buy a couple midfielders for 50m each. Then we have to wait for them to come good in 2 years. Cycle continuesā¦

Just by counting numbers, we should have a balance of experience and youth.
Our best 11 supposed to have 4 experienced players in Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Auba/Laca. The rest are young players.
Unfortunately, two of them injured too often in critical time, and the 3rd one is doing more harm than contributing. Aubaās scoring touch was lost and was asked to leave; and Laca is doing more defensive work than scoring.

Edit: Iām also tired of the conversation ending up being about Wenger every time we suffer. Heās a big part of our decline but heās been gone for long enough for us to be able to focus on what comes next rather than constantly hashing up the past

Life supposed to be better because we had a choice to make a difference.
The bad part was, the fucking owner and board did not have enough patience to a coach that could lead us to something and hang on too long for a rookie.
Chances were thereā¦ Klopp, Pep, Poch, Conteā¦ we did not take any.
