The State of The Arsenal

Pretty average pickings.

This is why I think Arteta is not only a poor manager but also has a level entitlement way above any other manager.
There has never been another club that has indulged any manager the way we have, let alone a complete rookie that has failed every season.

There was never a need for an complete overhaul.
Every club has inadequate players that need replacing but we had several, perfectly good players Arteta fell out with because of his petulance, that are performing to a high level at other clubs.

He’s spent 200m and we still can’t defend or score.
How much more money does this clown need before people realise he would still fail to get in the CL with Messi, Mbappe, De Brune and Salah upfront.

It’s beyond belief that people still think, after three seasons of failure, he’s going to turn this around.

We finally have a manager that has the Kroenkes spending and acting somewhat ambitious and people are complaining…

People used to complain about Wenger’s lack of ambition, Emery allowed the club to sign players he didn’t even want that eventually got him sacked.

Thank fuck Arteta told the club that their business was the shits. Wouldn’t be surprised if while he was at City we were viewed as an example to avoid.

Club needed a proper restructure and a change of attitude. Even if we don’t get a CL spot this has been by far the most positive season we’ve had in probably a decade. Majority of the fans actually rooting for the team, supporting the players and we can actually see a direction.

All we needed was a proper manager.

are you for real? For years everyone has been crying the players were a waste of a wage and not good enough. Now we shifted them, we needed just a good manager.

I wonder if you were gonna hound him too if he deemed that the club needed to start from scratch.

Let’s take the best coach in the world today, does anyone actually believe Pep wouldn’t come here and start from scratch? He took over a title winning City and completely transformed it.

He got guys like Hart, Toure, Nolito, Sagna, Kolarov and many other out of the club.

Correct, If you’re going to centralise the project and the short/medium term future of the club around the manager, he has to be elite to warrant that level of control

There’s nothing particularly unique or special about what Arteta has done at Arsenal outside of the FA cup win.

Lmaooooo u said Pep Fraudiola is the bst manager in the world :clown_face::joy::joy::skull::skull:

It’s between him and Klopp mate. You can lie to yourself though like you do when you think Arsene was perfection personified.

Any time the FA Cup win gets brought up it needs to be prefaced with the fact that our starters that day were Emi Martinez, Rob Holding, David Luiz, Bellerin, Dani Ceballos, AMN, Auba, Laca, and Pepe. All doods the flat brain fans think are deadwood and we needed to get rid of. So we mostly have replaced them with big money signings and have performed worse many times. Definitely no trophies.

Pep with Arsenal would be struggling just as bad as Arteta lmaoooooo :joy::joy::joy::woozy_face::woozy_face::woozy_face:

There are plenty of managers that have turned a club around without big spending.
Look at what Kroenke, Conte, Potter, Vieira, Moyes, Frank, etc, have done without 200m of spending and getting rid of loads of players.

What has Arteta done that any of these managers couldn’t have?

See, that’s your issue. It has nothing to do with Arteta, Emery or others.
It has all to do about Wenger.

I can’t believe it’s been almost 5 years and you’re still bitter. Anyone we bring you’ll start comparing them to Arsene and eventually you’ll turn on them because they’re not him.
That’s a weird fascination mate and I doubt it’s healthy for you.

Where do you keep plucking these 14 assists and 8 goals from out of curiosity?

Won the FA Cup.

Convinced a whole set of fans that going from 70 points to 66 points in 3 seasons is progress.

I do think Arteta was selling winning the CL to Willian and now Vinai, Edu and Arteta have got together to sell the BS project line to move the goal posts.

They keep snouts in the trough in the meantime through sticking to a common story.

I do think 2.5 years and this spend should see better if this trio were the real deal.

I have found the squad management and motivation bizarre to say the least.

All 3 should be on a tight rope going into next season. A mediocre or poor start to next season will see the fan base turn very quickly.

Unfortunately I don’t trust the board to know how to hire good replacements and it’s obvious the Kroenkes are clueless on managing a soccer team.

To say that it is Arteta who has had some special powers to get the Kroenke’s spending is a stretch. The Kroenke’s spent big last summer because we were a club in crisis, they had the ESL debacle, and protests started up about wanting them to sell, to Daniel Ek or whoever.

Once that logic is discarded, which I think it should, then we have the intellectual mishmash that is the underlier of much of the circular discussion here. The mishmash is you go out-of-the-box with a manager like Arteta, or even Wenger at the time, because you are a club that will be doing things a little different, like being smart and shrewd and overachieving while spending less than the top clubs, as Arsene Wenger did. When you are spending Pep levels of money, as the Kroenke’s have promised to continue into this summer, the question then is why don’t we have a Pep, Conte, Tuchel, or whoever, instead of Arteta, and indeed would those more experienced managers have ascended the club from its trough much quicker.

Having said that all, again, I don’t want Arteta fired, and there is no obvious candidate to replace him this summer, ten Hag coming in with Ajax personnel was what I had in mind for a while but that’s gone anyway. I’m just explaining what underlies much of the discussion in here, in terms of spending Pep/Mourinho levels of money but then not having that type of manager to go with the money.

Really quite interesting that I keep it completely Arsenal related when discussing things on OA, never have gotten personal with anyone, yet ppl attack me personally all the time just like this. Wonder why that happens??:thinking:

Yup complete bull shit. Wenger spent 50m on Laca, Sven spent 50m on Auba, Xhaka and Mustafi were 35m a pop. We been spending plenty just on mid level players for a long time. Pepe was 75m ffs :joy::joy:
