The State of The Arsenal

I remember battering Villa 5-0 and having some good natured banter with them in the pub afterwards. When we took the piss about the scoreline, they responded with, “have you ever won the European Cup? Have you fuck!”

We had no response

Hahaha exactly my point

Couldn’t give a shit what other fans think.

Its not really about what other fans think, it’s about our own feelings of inadequacy and wanting to rid ourselves of them.

You’re in a minority there my man.

Football is tribalistic as fuck, half the fun is engaging in discourse / banter with other fans and specifically taking the piss out of them. Wish I didn’t give a shit but for all the times we get rinsed, you’re holding out for the moment you get to laud it over other cunt fans. Hoping it’s this season

I guess so

Genuinely couldn’t care less.

Tough to say what I would prefer now…

I know I would be over the moon winning the CL or the PL…

Have to say, personally the Champions League is is still something very special to me. In those Invincible years I kinda took the league for granted, but the Champions League felt like climbing to the Mount Everest, and I badly wanted usnto get there.

That dream kinda got burried after the years, almost decades, where we kinda became insignificant in that competition. It kinda concetrated my focus to the PL, since it’s been so long we have won in the last time and made it a much bigger priority than it was 20 years ago.

It’s a strange feeling now. Ideally, primarily, I want us to prove our quality in the PL first. Winning the CL withouth winning the league would kinda feel incomplete I guess.

Yeah, the PL is the main focus atm, can’t deny that. We have to bring that baby home. But winning the CL alone would be absolutely huge, massive, historical for the club.

Win the PL.

Win the CL next season as champions. Gives it a certain pizazz.

The PL is the real measure of a team but there are no great European sides who haven’t won the CL.

Like others I went for the PL as I’d love Arteta to be able to say he beat Pep and Klopp to the title. CL is a hole we need to fill.

This is the only fair argument for choosing PL.

Call me crazy but for me PL is far more valuable trophy.

We’ve gone from having players like Zinchenko, Jesus and Partey being key members of the starting 11 last season, to now only using them as substitutes, that too not always. I remember how desperate we felt last season when any one of those 3 were unavailable and today we are comfortable not starting any one of them even in the biggest games.

The squad is far from complete but we are so much stronger than last season. And this is without having Timber or Vieira for the whole season.

True but we shouldn’t care about the adulation of a bunch of moron talking heads. I like being underrated.

Arsenal against everyone. Siege mentality.

We’ve played 40 games this season (including the Community Shield).

Minimum of 12 games left (10 league & Bayern). We are a better team than Bayern atm, so we should be getting through that tie as well.

We’re in such a good position here. Hopefully getting back to a full squad when we go to the Etihad (minus Timber).

I feel like we’re much better equipped to challenge to the end. Okay we could lose versus City, but at worst we will be 3 points behind Liverpool, and 2 behind City with 9 to play.

We came back after those defeats at Christmas as well.

I’m really trying to enjoy the State of the Arsenal. We’re flying and you have to enjoy these moments.
