The randomly nothing thread

Disappointing results so far. I was counting on using this poll as conclusive evidence in a marital dispute.

If my wife goes out of town, I disconnect the ring doorbell.

Download the app then turn off location and claim its cos it eats too much battery.

What’s your argument against it/reluctance?

I was initially hesitant but my wife and I also have it.

It is helpful when you are waiting on one another and can see where they are how far etc.

(Mainly me that takes long). Also she knows for sure when I’ve left work. It works quite well tbh

Sham Shady :grinning:

I’m a solution focused individual.

My other half and I do it temporarily through WhatsApp if there’s a need, like if it’s going to take ages to get home or one of us is travelling a long way. I’ve never really considered doing it at all times and I’m not sure why we would.

Non-issue. We don’t have phones.

Being the only Android on my other half’s side who are all iPhone, they couldn’t find my me if they wanted to.

This feels like a really big deal. A worrying trend with the fall of the traditional film studios and rise of the streaming services. It feels like the new world will be dominated by Netflix, Amazon and Disney. I’m not sure I like this new world!

I reckon the exact same things were said when WB took over some other studios back in the day. Tis just the way these things go.

Fair point, but the difference now is that these companies are not the main players in film/tv, they are starting to dominate everything!

Stand by for the subscription hike from the nice folks at Netflix.

I think it depends where in the market are you.

If you’re some Sky loyalist(they used to have all the HBO stuff) that doesn’t have Netflix and likes going to the movies you’re in for some major shift.

If you’re someone who uses Netflix as their primary source of entertainment and doesn’t go to the movies much, you’ll probably benefit heavily out of this.

I’m personally in-between. Dropped Sky a long time ago(although HBO Max was coming to the UK next year anyway), use Netflix as my primary entertainment platform, however, going to the movies is near and dear to me and this will only accelerate their demise.

And I haven’t even mentioned physical media. If you’re some old school head that still it’s into that, that’s dead, it’s over.

Everything becomes a big monopoly in the end anyway, may as well go the way of ‘left-field’ free options instead. The amount of money/platforms you need to watch a TV show nowadays is ridiculous.

Also, the poxy adverts. We pay for prime and any show we watch, even if it is a 20~ run time, has roughly x3 two-minute-plus advert breaks. We bought the entire series of Dexter last weekend from CEX for ÂŁ20 and have had a much better experience.
