I’m not even in the UK, but I’ve had a quick gander at railfares over there just out of interest and they totally baffle me - options out the wazoo. Kudos to ScotRail. I bet the rest of the country is hoping the other rail companies follow suit.

Depends where you are going
Glasgow to Edinburgh return is now £15 cheaper for example. My commute to the office when I go in was 5.10 return its now 2.80

I can’t see a major difference yet tbh but rather it be owned by the government than some cunts like Abellio the previous contract owner.
Getting rid of the peak fares is the only major thing they have done which is the best they could do as they will lose money by doing it but they want to entice more people onto using it.
I don’t see why any train service should be owned by a foreign company. England is more difficult as you don’t have English rail you have multiple different operators

The different operators are slowly disappearing though and its all being taken back in house so I think in the end we may see the Government owning the National Rail franchises again.

I hope they’ve done it permanently now.
Last year they did it for 6 months then reinstated peak fares!
It will hurt a lot of they do it now as my Railcard stint finishes next September!
