After logging onto OA this evening, I was expecting to see loads of posts on this thread following the budget earlier…very surprised that there isn’t a single post yet? What’s going on?
The press management and strategic leaks to sense check the reaction beforehand largely worked to reduce the “reaction” to the budget on the day.
There really isn’t anything to shout about. Its largely what many expected, definitely a left centre budget
Labour putting up road tax £100 showing again how little they care about working class people after the Labour Mayor slapped £75 a week for every person who has to drive into London for work.
Me too.
It was because the budget is actually pretty good.
It’s in the General News thread.
Ah ok…but even after looking at that thread, still not seeing too many complaints from people?
You guys could post what you like about the budget and keep the conversation going. You know…
It was a bland and uninspiring budget, leaving the majority slightly worse off…nothing to write home about
That’s the point I was making though…no one seems upset by the budget? Does that mean people are actually happy with it?
I’ve decided to stop critiquing Labour on OA because I don’t want to be responsible for the Tories getting re-elected.
Not sure what we’re supposed to be upset about.
@The_Invincibles wants to fantasise that this means we all think Labour are fantastic.
I neither think they are fantastic, or destroying the country after being in power for a month.
Although what I did really like is the compensation for the Horizon/Blood scandal, which has sort of gone under the radar.
Posting anything from GBNews should be criminal
Spent about 30 seconds on this guys page and what an absolute dishonest wanker lol
He’s one of those guys that are married to the political spectrum. Labour could deliver the lowest tax burden of all time and the greatest economic growth in generations and he’d still be ripping into them.
How anybody lived through the last 14 years of Tory rule and has decided the current Labour government (which are absolutely not a left wing party) have ruined the country in a matter of months is beyond me.
These guys are like real life Paul Bearer or Paul Heymans.
tbf, I didn’t even look at his profile or his page and dont know who he is, was just sent the link and thought the video was funny.
The excuse here though will be that this was all pre election before they got in and found the “real” state the tories left it in.
Cunts all of them anyway so it’s all irrelevant .
The video is intentionally disingenuous. This budget isn’t charging me any extra tax.
The whole “working people” line is tiresome, but they used it for a reason. The extra tax burden doesn’t fall on individuals unless they have a substantial asset.
Obviously, organisations and individuals like landlords who are being affected will shift as much as they can onto others. But directly, Labour aren’t taxing any of the core taxes that affect everyone.
