The Conservative Party

That’s not really fair on GPs, they are doing more than they ever have done, and they have less to do it with. I have had no bother getting an appointment in person with one. And don’t forget it was this government that told GPs to start seeing people remotely.

Despite what the mail says, they aren’t just twiddling their thumbs.

They do the work and their bit and refer you on but then it’s almost a year to see some specialists.

It’s very easy to bash on them but their life is pretty shit now just as it is with everyone else.

But you’re right you are better off using Google to make a diagnosis. The NHS is absolutely SHIT now.

These Tories have absolutely destroyed the public sector on this country.

And that’s before we even get to public lawyers, which I don’t know much about but are also in crisis.

Nothing works anymore as you say.

It must be different in Scotland to Hampshire. The primary care down here is a joke and the nurses who work at the practices are scathing about the attitudes of many of the GPs who they say are just on the money gravy train and don’t care much for the outcomes or accuracy of the diagnosis.

I’m almost at the stage of forking out to take the whole family down the private route. My son was treated terribly by the GP surgeries when he had epiglottitis and my wife has a problem that they just can’t be bothered to diagnose. Everyone I know in the South thinks the NHS primary care is a joke including long standing nurses who work in the system and they think half the problem is that too many of the doctors just play the system for a comfy life and have spent too long hiding behind Covid as an excuse long after vaccinations were given.

It’s anecdotal I know but I think there are too many just playing the system and only massive reform can now change this. It’s possible many just switch off because they feel the jobs been made impossible as the system has become increasingly broken. The Tory government has fundamentally failed to grasp the problem of public health and primary and social care problems. This leaves the second layer over run with sick patients needing specialist care and in patient treatment.

The resource planning has been non existent too. In the meantime you need 3 A’s to get into most medical schools that have far more applicants than they can train while armies of people do degrees in things like law and where there are many more solicitors in training than there are jobs.

Successive governments have had a shocker in addressing skills shortages in the areas actually needed eg medical staff, plumbers, heating engineers etc etc.

You should 100% go private.

Most people that can afford to, or can’t afford to wait any longer, are now.

Nurses can say what they want, many of them have no idea what doctors go through.

Every time somebody talks about the awful conditions they face, someone pipes up, ‘what about nurses, physios, cleaners, this person, that person etc. Etc.’

There are plenty of people that advocate for those others. But nobody seems to for doctors, who believe it or not, are paid less per hour than any of those. And much of that is their own fault - virtue signalling idiots that are out of touch teaching them hate themselves.

This past bank holiday weekend, the lowest paid person on shift at the hospital was the junior doctor.

But they also had more responsibility than anyone else on that shift, and were covering more patients.

A nurse looks after about 8 patients, maybe 12 at worst in this hellscape NHS.

A doctor on call covers maybe 2-3 wards - that’s 60-90 patients. And they have to make decisions for their problems.

How can nurses so easily say this person is lazy or that is lazy?

Sure you are right there can be many lazy doctors, or even lazy nurses or others. Like with all jobs. And I guess there is awful rates of burnout as well.

However I am pretty sure they are the minority.

I promise you no GP goes to work every day trying to do a shit job.

Many healthcare staff also just rag on GPs because it’s easy to do and they’ve heard others do it.

I’ve been guilty of that too. But I’ll never do it again, because they don’t deserve it. It’s the managers, the highers up, and the government that create these conditions.

The demand for medical care right now far far far outstrips the supply of people and resources to meet demand. And the government have gone with unsafe, risky short-term solutions to fix this instead of just paying more money and improving conditions so they get more staff, improving training spots so you get more specialists to reduce waiting times and more doctors to treat people.

And the people who have neglected this deserve the ire.

Also look into going abroad for private treatment, if the UK prices are a barrier for entry.

I need to save up a bit more, but I’ll be looking to get my teeth done abroad next year sometime.

Just a ticking clock now. It’s coming. What I can’t wait to find out is whether or not Cummings wants to burn it all down and will release pics of whoever replaces him at parties or was it entirely personal against Boris.

Edit: :eyes:

These people are a cancer to the country and are just as responsible as the corrupt politicians they knowingly vote in.

Won’t get too excited. Didn’t Theresa May win the vote of no confidence? She lasted another 6/7 months after that.

Wow that briefing note - he’s a dead man walking.

Totally spot on as well.

Yeah but ultimately she went.

I think the MPs no that BoJo is a dead man walking and they’ll hope someone like Javid can turn things around by 2024.

Although if Javid doesn’t want this poisoned chalice and it’s some like Truss then they’re fucked either way

The amazing thing about that briefing note is that 25% of Tories still trust him.

Considering he’s a proven serial liar, anyone else who backs him, must themselves also be as untrustworthy as he is.

We’re close enough to the next election that now is the time you’d switch leaders.

He’s absolute poison and it’s not going to get better.

Yeah I hope he wins it.

I think he’d win a general election if we had one tomorrow which is a damning indictment of Labour

When / how does that change though?

If he loses in 2024 because he’s massively unpopular it’ll probably be the same names on the list. I can’t see anyone really making a name for themselves in between now and then.

Sajid Javid is quite clearly the best of the lot, why isn’t he higher up in the odds??

I guess he’s too smart to want to be a part of the shit show that takes over from Boris.
