My son plays mind games playing for his University tennis team. He only took up tennis as his main hobby 3 years ago and now he’s the Uni number 2 and has won 6 out of his 7 competitive league matches this academic year to date.
He’ll waste time when he’s losing points to throw their rhythms, he’ll throw histrionics if he thinks it will throw the opponent and then he runs every ball down (that’s fair that bit) so it’s very hard for them to win a point. He’s regularly beating players (a lot are overseas students in the Uni teams) who were very highly ranked at junior level in their countries and with much better techniques. I don’t really approve of the mind games but he blames me for being over competitive because I made it hard for him to win against me when he was young.
It’s down to the opponents to be mentally strong and keep their game going. I don’t like it when he’s being like this, but Djokovic is the master of mental toughness and throwing his opponents and I think he may go past Federer’s record of 20 odd Slam titles.
We’ve been lucky to have Federer, Nadal and Djokovic all in the same generation- all amazing players and sad they’re near the end of their careers.
I thought this was going to be about him leading the charge on lower ranked pros been looked after financially, which I thought was very good, but actually it turns out he is a fucking moron.
I just think people have a right to their own personal liberty, you don’t really know what’s in vaccines and how your body is going to react I suppose.
In saying that if a vaccine was created for COVID-19, my personal choice would be to take it.
I have those vaccines you’re meant to have when you go to places like Thailand etc, can’t ecaxtly remember what they’re.
Neither have I. That’s not quite the same thing though, is it? The way my mind went was that he is actively opposed to vaccinations. As in he won’t have one whatever they’re for. I can only assume that means he won’t allow his children to have immunisations either, which if is the case, then he is, in my opinion, an idiot.
If half, or even less, of the population chooses not to get vaccins, because of personal liberty, diseases that have been pretty much been eradicated will make a comeback. You do understand that, don’t you?
This demand of personal libery is a hollow thing. People who demand that liberty and the right of choice often don’t even know what they are talking about.
Furthermore you can research what vaccins consist off. And we do know that they work. How? Just compare infant deaths and stuff like that with numbers today and 50 - 100 years ago before widespread of vaccin use. That will be the answer.
@Stroller it’s an interesting point you make, I can’t see them wanting to be shut down for years waiting for a vaccine that may or may not arrive, interesting to see how it plays out.
