Tennis

The Sport of Kings, as the late, great Sid Waddell used to say.

But if it was Fedrerer or Nadal instead of Djokovic, Alcaraz wouldn’t be interesting

Is that your opinion? Or is that what you’re telling me my opinion apparently is?

For me, anyone dominating in any sport is boring. Nadal dominating French Open is a bit boring and as a result that has been the major I have watched the least of in recent years. I don’t like things where there is a clear favourite.

When Djokovic, Federer and Nadal were all at their peak, tennis was peak.

And the reason I am annoyed now is because out of all the majors, the US one has traditionally
In my lifetime been the hardest to predict. Other than that 3/4 year stint Federer had. I mean look at last few winners - Alcaraz, Medvedev, Thiem. Nadal and Djokovic before that, though can’t remember which way round. But you get the point.

This year however, to me at least it has just been obvious that Djokovic will win. It’s just a complete waste of time. (Will be absolutely delighted if I am proven wrong tomorrow!)

Medvedev vs Djokovic will be a tight final.

Medvedev is a beast on HC, 5th slam final on the surface since 2019.

Question is can he replicate such a level back to back or did he peak too soon against Alcaraz

Love coming in here seeing only 1 additional post, means the :goat: has done his thing.

Some will still be trying nonsensical arguments to dispute his status as :goat:.

If it wasn’t for discrimination mandates he’d probably have 26 slams by now also :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

Bad luck for Medvedev I like him, I hope he can add a couple more slams at some stage.

Brutal 2nd set tonight @Darkseid, that was the game.

Big Djok does it again. One of the very few men of integrity left. I don’t get the hate. He’s a phenomenal athlete and human being.

Some will still be that amped up with hatred mate they’ll continue to argue against him being the :goat:, despite the statistical evidence being what it is.

It’s beyond sad at this point, but still pretty good for a laugh.

There really can’t be any debate anymore

He is a machine. 36 years old and puts all those kids to bed.

Awesome athlete. The GOAT.

:joy: Yes he is the goat. I’m not too invested in tennis to dispute that. But we all know you desperately want someone to challenge it. I hope that person comes along for you soon :slightly_smiling_face:

Probably have

2020 Wimbledon

2022 AO and USO if not for the mandates.

Alas still 2 clear all time anyways.

Only man to win 3 slams in a year on 4 seperate occasions.

Only man to have won all 4 slams a minimum of 3 times.
