Would take hector rolling back the years to win his place back in the team if he comes back next summer

A bit bland, but solid as feck.

He’d also have to murder Tomi.

Judging by his hairstyle at the moment, he has rolled the years right back to the 1970s

Rolling back the years to a previous life where he was a competent fucking full back perhaps

Remember when SkySports clowned the club on air for signing him?

I’m happy with Tomi. He’s not perfect but he’s a very good buy and he’s solid. One of the rare full backs who are extremely physically imposing too. He looks like a giant compared to a lot of full backs

Yes he is damn you

Over 6ft right?

Yeah he’s a solid 6’2 or 6’3 if I remember rightly.

It’s actually insane how he moves for such a big lad, really reminds me of a better Meunier.

We have to remember how young he is too. So confident on the ball, confident with both feet. Works his socks off and has that true Japanese humility.

Honestly I’m waiting for a few Japanese members to sign up here to tell us how big we are again in their country because of him.

Wenger been trying that shit for years and Arteta does it like it’s nothing. Who’d have thought you actually need to play the players and show belief in them.

He’s just a really solid RB. Has the defensive basics absolutely nailed, great in 1v1s and really strong in the air.

What I like the most about him is even though he is limited technically, he isn’t afraid of playing high-risk passes in field.

When the fullback is happy to pass inside into central areas, that really moves defensive blocks around. Really upsets the shape of the opposition. When he sees Partey, Ƙdegaard, Lacazette demanding the ball in field, he doesn’t shit the bed and horseshoe the cunt back to White.

Another player who takes responsibility. He never goes missing this lad. His name is always mentioned numerous times in commentary. Love his attitude even though he isn’t the greatest footballer we have in the squad by a long shot.

Is he though?

For me yeah, he just seems a tad clumsy at times. And his first touch just seems a bit robotic. Basically, he looks like a CB that’s been converted to fullback - for me you can tell that quite quickly.

Limited technically is perhaps excessive. I mean that in the context of the best RBs around. TAA and Cancelo, for example. To be fair, there aren’t many in that elite bracket, so a pretty harsh measuring stick.

He looks pretty lanky as well which is an interesting body shape. But I don’t see him getting constantly rolled by small wingers.

Yeh I don’t really see the whole CB to RB thing, it was a stick people wanted to beat him with when he first joined though let’s be honest no one has watch a goddamn single moment of this kid play.

I actually have to disagree about the touch too I think he’s insanely assured on the ball, the little link up with Partey, Ode and Saka tonight was lovely, quick, decisive and confident. At 23 years old he’s still finding his best position, people will say oh he’s a CB or a defensive full back, that’s all he is. I see him compared to Sagna. Sagna was a great defender but a complete dog shit attacker, that little ball against Toon that Tomiyasu put over to Martinelli was something else. This young man’s game is far from refined and certainly damn far from being defined.

I think he has the tools to grow into one of the best full backs in the league, he already understands the hardest part of the gig and has the fundamentals to improve on what he needs to going forward.

Also I do feel like TAA and Cancelo are indeed unreal but also lucky to be in the teams that play for, TAA in particular is a pretty God awful defender.

Offensively I’m not that high on him but he’s certainly no worse than Bellerin in that department.

Defensively pretty solid though, deals with 1 on 1s, strong and good in the air. I do feel we look more sound of defensive set pieces this year.

Upgrade on last years options for sure.

TAA has improved his defensive side last 18 months, wouldn’t say god awful, I’d say serviceable but yes he is the best attacking full back in world football.

Sorry bro didn’t mean to slander your boy. In fact I actually agree with you it’s often underserved he uses his athleticism quite well to cover and he’s what Bellerin should have been for us. Going forward though he’s as you say ridiculous and at any other club if he didn’t have Salah in front of him he’d already be converted to a winger
