Heās definitely a crock by now. Itās unfortunate because I think big part of it is because he play as a fullback which requires him constantly running(especially under Mikel) and him being so tall it isnāt ideal.
Defender was already a priority but it becomes and even bigger one now. Edu better work OT to get someone in when January comes.
We simply cannot spend the next six weeks working to get him and Partey fit only for them to go join their international sides and get hurt again in mid-January.

Spurs essentially saved their season & took 4th spot from us by getting Kulusevski & Romero on loan. Why donāt we make such essential loans rather than spend 20 million on Jorginho?
He may get replaced by virtue of a new signing rather than binning him off entirely at least initially
Signing him to a new deal is cool as far as protecting value goes but despite the feel good vibes from his recent performances the guy just isnāt dependable

We need to add another defender anyway in the long run.
Weāre moving into a world where every big club in the PL is going to need two good players for every position. Youāre not going to be able to have 17-18 players you truly rely on and then make up the numbers with guys you pray will never play like Cedric and Elneny or academy kids who have never played a PL match. New CL format means 10 group stage matches in the fall, domestic cups are so competitive now as quality in England has increased up and down the table that if you want to win them you canāt put out weak sides, Club World Cup beginning in 2025 for teams that qualify, all the players have more strain on them due to the intensity of the tactics as well as the heavier international schedule with crap like the Nations League, etc.
