Super Mik Arteta

Pep is a genuine world class manager tho. His resume backs him up

Meh. He might be good, but he hasn’t won at a club that didn’t have an incredible financial advantage over nearly every other team in the league.

Not impressed that he “won” @ Barca w/the greatest player ever in his prime along with 2 other generational talents in midfield. Or at Bayern in a one team league. Or at City with a billion pound lineup. Look at his failures in the CL (when he is up against other quality sides).

You think he is taking a mid table team in the EPL to a top 4 spot?

Again, I’m not saying that he isn’t a “good” manager, I just think that he hasn’t done anything special at his coaching stops. Or anything that another dozen managers couldn’t have accomplished under the same incredible advantages.

Aside from all his man management disasters, Arteta’s biggest failure has to be not managing to improve our chance creation much at all since the start of last season.

The impetus of Smith-Rowe, Saka, Odegaard and a bit of Pepe finding form is what got him out of dodge post-Christmas. An enforced change that turned out to be a lucky break for him. Laca to be fair played his part as best he could in enabling those lads also.

Good managers would have identified the issues in this system and then adapted it into more effective performances in good time. Certainly by now we should have seen a fix if we’re to believe Arteta is progressing as a coach. Instead he’s seemingly achieved neither of those things in a calendar year which is unheard of for successful managers. It looks like a dangerous number of senior players are finally losing the faith and patience.

As a team we’re crying out for Pogba’s approach to passing and Fernandes/Greenwood style runs in behind.

Why would he manage a shit team?

Just like Messi or Ronaldo will never sign for Barnsley why should Pep manage them

Very overrated manager who picks he spots very carefully.

I rate Klopp and Tuchel higher

Basing a team around Xhaka until 2025 is a pretty damning moment for me, now I don’t believe he is bad as some say but to sign him that long on big money means you see him as a key component.

Yes I’m deflated as fuck.

He doesn’t have to manage a “shit” team and take them to glory.

I just don’t think that he hasn’t accomplished anything that a dozen other managers could do with such incredible advantages. And as such, he doesn’t need to be placed on a pedestal nor talked about as if he is the best.

What Klopp has accomplished is much more impressive to me.

I was a bit surprised by your previous leniency on Arteta tbh. Think it’s becoming clearer to more people now that Arteta didn’t influence that post-Christmas turnaround much at all. He just got a very lucky roll of the dice on a couple good youngsters.

Looking at the midfield of Fernandinho alone as fuck is very similar to how Arteta left Partey alone in the midfield against Villarreal.

I’m scared.

What fucked up setup that was

Y’all think Pep would be equally as shit without that billion pounds to spend?

Thought I would log into the forum and see Arteta and Edu at least frantically working to get some signings done as they feel some urgency. Little to no movement on anything. ffs. Odegaard is pretty much in the bag, even though the club will drag it out like everything else. Situations with CF and GK are a mess, as well as RB, yet nothing. Bunch of people at the club need a kick up their arse.

Arteta has done lots of moronic shit at different times but I really just don’t see what the endgame strategy is in terms of alienating both Auba and Laca right before the season (if it was some kind of bustup, which seems likely).

How does he think its going to end for him if he goes into the season already in a tough position but now without his two strikers? Its just madness. Just out of sheer self-interest, its the kind of thing no minimally competent manager could let happen, period.

I say all this as somebody who would be happy to see Laca and Auba leave the club if replaced. But if that’s what you want to do, you need an actual fucking plan for the transition and then you need to be competent to make it happen, not just jerk off all summer and then alienate them two days before the first match of the season.

Where is it reported re: alienating them?

Obv the situation is odd, but I thought it had to do with illness or something???

I don’t think its clear but there have been some rumors of a bustup and the way Arteta talked about it in the press conference really made it seem like there was a lot more going on than an illness. The other possibility would be that one or both of them were close to a move but we you’d have thought we would have heard something more about that by now.

yeah it looks incredibly suspicious… honestly crazy to think we actually lined up with Balogun for the first game of the season… looks a promising kid, but wtaf.

Arteta’s tactical knowledge and leadership have to be questioned at this point. It’s not as if these sorts of results are a one off. We’ve seen them throughout his time here. I get that people want to support our manage and I applaud that, but enough is enough. He should have been replaced before last Christmas. I see a tough couple of years ahead if they continue with him.

The thing that worries me most is Edu and Arteta seem like they have a bromance going. And the Kroenkes just don’t give a fuck. Fan pressure isn’t going to change their minds if they truly think Arteta is their best option. So short of fans completely abandoning the club financially… I don’t see anything changing.

The Kroenke’s give a fuck… it is their asset that is underperforming… the problem with them is that they take too long to pull the trigger, not wanting to be knee-jerk, so they go too far to other end of spectrum…

OH and they hire serial idiots.

Imagine the collective joy we are all gonna feel when we get that first rumor of Arteta being sacked. It’s going to be so nice to have some glimmer of hope our next manager will actually be decent. More than a year of staring at a black abyss of a football club has been really sad.

i just dont understand how they keep on making the same mistakes over and over and over and over again and then they come back to another transfer period to set things straight and think ‘how we have done stuff so far is good carry on.’

How are they not seeing this…do they not see what every other bugger can see, i dont understand it.
