Some interesting comments from Arteta post match.
He essentially put a huge emphasis on this summer, said the “plan is done”, the “guys upstairs” now doing what they have to do and that we can’t start the next season with IFs.
I’ve watched a lot of his press conferences, before and after games. I’ve never seen him as transparent as this ahead of a summer.
It’s a bit similar to how transparent he was in January about our need for reinforcements but instead of it coming as a desperate plea, now it feels more like him confidently passing the baton to Berta and co. to deliver the goods.
Let’s hope that faith is repaid. Would be great if the team wraps up its business early like it did in 2022 and 2023, providing the best platform for a strong preseason to start the next season strong.
Side-note: He’s banned in the final game due to his yellow card.

Wasn’t it like a minute or two earlier that bald fuck decided against giving a petty yellow card to Burn for throwing the ball at Kai while he was down.
But he didn’t hesitate penalising Arteta for throwing the ball back into the field.
Arteta ain’t some saint but there’s no way he did that on purpose to waste time given how that transpired.
That’s where the fourth official should be stepping in as he was the closest to the situation.

I really despise time wasting bookings as a rule. I think Raya got one too.
Applied without any consideration in some instances and in others it could be the 30th time a keeper delays a kick out before the card comes out.

The refs blatantly dish out cautions based on the shirt the player is wearing rather than the action itself.
If Dean Henderson was playing for a big club, no fucking way does he stay on the pitch.
If all our red cards were carried out by lesser clubs, the refs will let it go.
I don’t understand how there isn’t an enquiry into the refs of this league.
They’re all crooks and should be banned for match fixing.

In some way I take his recent press conferences as direct requests to the board like during the January window.

It’s good news if he’s lost some power and I say that as someone who is still fully behind him. Berta taking more control is important because we can’t only be signing players for Arteta, even if he stays another 2-3 years we need to have someone in the building who’s planning beyond that.
I do think if we have a campaign like this again that next season will be his last and at that point it probably should be.
Agreed - has to deliver next season with trophies. Should’ve ended the season with a trophy or two.
Biggest challenge for Arteta will be to motivate his players again to deliver - the players must somewhat feel defeated as well. Especially mentally.

Yes and I think pretty soon the argument goes beyond tactics and anything directly happening on the pitch, there will come a point where this group just needs to hear a different voice. The same guy can’t keep standing up there forever and motivating a group without crossing the finish line, eventually despite all the good work he’s done he will run out of arguments in his favour.
