Super Mik Arteta

Come on, we all know that doesn’t matter

It’s an honest answer and one that gives players’ confidence.
I care more about maintaining players’ confidence than Arteta reducing the online mockery, which honestly will never reduce.

Of course Fabrizio is peddling this. Proper juicy, online bait that will be taken out of context I’m sure.

Arteta has spoken enough about the team and expectations he has from them game after game and usually delivers a straight to the point message. Every Arsenal fan has complained about the same thing all season, so I see no reason why it’s wrong when it comes out of the manager’s mouth.

The honest answer would be " I failed to fill the glaring striker/attacking position up front and bought midfielders and injury prone defenders instead". That would be honest.

What’s honest about putting the blame on things we have you control over?

I wouldn’t rank injuries or red cards as the Number 1 factor why we weren’t more competitive in the league.

It’s time to win Mikel, I’m sick of the excuses and being nearly men. I expect silverware next season at the very least

If you ask me the same question I’ll give pretty much the same answer so no reason for me to not think it honest.

There is probably additional context not in the tweet too.

There is no answer he could have given to that that would not result in Arsenal fans complaining about what he’d said.

I mean would be helpful if the tweet included the initial question but either way just leave it at ‘Liverpool were the better team and deserved it’ like he said a week or two ago.

Can talk about the other stuff with the players directly, we all know it fucked us, but we’ve not even got over ‘the ball was different’ banter yet ffs.

“Liverpool were better this season” is the best answer, no need to give them fodder.

injuries more than red cards, I can’t think of any team that has ever won any competitive league whilst having 4 first choice attacking players out injured for several months (like we have with Kai, Jesus, Ödegård, Saka). that’s a good answer imo. Red cards are not the issue, especially not if you mean the “unfairly given” reds.. imo anyways.

Arteta has had injuries and decisions go against the team but Liverpool won the title by so many points that isn’t the only reason.

Going into this season without strengthening our forward line yet again was why we couldn’t break down teams that were happy to defend against us.

Since he’s been here, Arteta has failed to bring in any top quality attacking players and if he’d focused more on the gaping holes in our attack, rather than stockpiling defenders and GK’s, then we might have got the goals and points we needed.

We need a game changing striker and LW because it’s obvious that a forward line consisting of Havertz, Martinelli, Jesus, Merino and Trossard wouldn’t be tolerated by any other top European club.

Can’t say it’s one thing or the other personally, the red cards early on stopped us getting any momentum and meant we were in a position to chase others from the off.

That for me changes the whole season and while it’s not impossible to come back from, it’s like starting a 100m race half a second behind everyone else.

Overcome that and you’re missing your best player for 3 months. Did quite well to manage that actually but by the time he was back he wasn’t really in form and then white and saka both drop out.

Yes we should’ve signed a striker in the summer but honestly it wouldn’t have made us win the title with all the other things going on.

Just hope for less adversity next season so we can actually play.

Someone needs to take that curly haired prick’s phones away from him.

Jesus that’s actually atrocious from Romano. This wasn’t even similar to the different ball thing (also blown out of proportion) but a completely normal answer that wasn’t falling for a leading question. I take my earlier comments back after that.

Wankers online honestly.

what’s wrong with it? am i missing something? they’re quotes, right?

The first paragraph is not an accurate representation of the question and answer.

Add to that all the bit where mikel talks about us being better next year and needing to do more, is conveniently cut out to make it look like a pure excuse quote.

It’s typical shit but it’s not cool.

He doesn’t provide the right context for the question. He makes it as if Arteta himself mentioned red cards and injuries unprompted.

He knows what he’s doing. He knows this is a proper rage bait that will get him interactions so he’s milking it to get the most out of it.

well I mean “on why..” makes me think it was probably a question.. maybe it’s a language thing. especially since he adds the “we would be closer” as well. but ok, fair.

He does it all the time and it’s annoying.
I can’t tell you how many times he’s quoted Mikel from a presser, and when you actually hear what he said in the presser it’s worded differently and with a partial or sometimes completely different context.
