Possibly Trossard but if it selling a player to get Toney it’s more likely to be Nketiah.

I’d prefer to wait and go all out to get Osimhen. :grinning:

Osimhen doesn’t even enter my imagination as a possible transfer. One I don’t understand the big fuss. As far as eye test I’m not wowed. I also don’t think at the price he’ll go for it’ll even be remotely possible.

I agree that I don’t think we can either afford him, or he would want to come here, but as much as Toney would be a great striker option, he’s not going to take us up to the next level.

There aren’t many strikers available and, as Toney has shown, even someone adequate like him, is going to cost around 80m.

Maybe Arteta might look at younger strikers from the PL, like Watkins or Ferguson, but there certainly aren’t many around which will push their price up.

You should see an eye doctor. Guy is electric. No guarantees in life obviously but he’s really impressive.

80m, get Vlahovic

At this point I think it’s fair to say Arteta has a long way to go when it comes to squad management. Whether it’s putzing around with Partey at RB, strange substitutions, managing Saka’s health, he’s failed so far this season.

A long term injury to Saka puts us firmly in the fight for top 4, imo and it’s all on the coach.

Partey at RB did fine, his substitutions have actually paid off more than not.

Only thing to beat him for is his management of Saka really.

Why give Nelson a new contract if he’s behind Jesus, Martinelli and Trossard on the left and Vieira on the right? That’s a weird substitution.

Why change two midfielders against Spurs?

And last night the substitutions left us with a team that made no sense.

Edit: I would not say Partey at RB was fine. The team looked very unsteady. Maybe because we didn’t trial it at all and then whipped it out unexpectedly in our first real match.

We used it last season. Not to mention that Partey played there long before he arrived at Arsenal.

Using it and using it well are two different things. And I don’t think Partey playing RB in Madrid means much when he’s been playing midfield here for years.

His role at RB wasn’t too different to what he was doing as a midfielder though.

And let’s not forget he was playing there while Zinchenko was out injured.

Rice got injured in that game.

Why change Vieira then? I originally thought he was injured as well but the coverage I listened to after didn’t seem to back that up.

Arteta said it was a tactical change and while he did end up with a knock anyway, the rationale I presume was that a midfield of Odegaard, Jorginho and Vieira with Zinchenko cutting in would have been a suicide job in a game like that.

I presume it was either Havertz for Vieira or Tomiyasu for Zinchenko.

Yeah, I just don’t like changing two thirds of a midfield at halftime unless it’s enforced or you’re getting absolutely wrecked.

So the following key players should be staying at Colney during the break:

Saliba
Martinelli
Trossard
White
Jorginho

Saka seems to be going with England but may not play. Partey and Tomiyasu are off but only playing friendlies so hopefully they don’t get worked too hard.

I think this break is a really important opportunity to get some players healthy and rested. The schedule over the next two months is brutal, playing twice a week basically every week until New Year’s.

Just clocked Jorginho hasn’t been called up. Interesting development. Seems like Spaletti has fallen in love with Cristante.

Very infuriating how easy it was for Trossard and Saliba to be withdrawn and Saka has to to checked by the FA because the cunts don’t buy he isn’t fit.

And it’s not like England don’t have players to call up instead. Why not give Gordon a try since he’s been in good form? What about Wilson who recently came back from his injury?

England also already practically qualified for the tournament. Top two in the group get in, England is sitting on 13 points with three matches left, Ukraine and North Macedonia can get a maximum of 16 points, and their goal differentials are both shit.

Even if England loses to Italy they just need three points total against Malta and North Macedonia to assure qualification. And there is every chance in the world that they wouldn’t even need those points because neither Ukraine or North Macedonia is likely to win their last three matches.
