Wanted to do this once our window was done but I feel like any potential deals will be close to the end of August so might as well do it now before the season starts.
So the concept is positional strength.
I mention a position you give a score of 0-10 in terms of how strong you think we are in that position.
There are many factors you can consider such as how many players can cover that position, is there adequate quality there, are we tactically flexible with our choices in that position, etc.

Not a good score, I assume there concerns over Matt Turner.
RB: 6
I was surprised by this. I think people are concerned over the depth with Cedric and Tomiyasu but I see Saliba and White very capable of covering that role and actually very well there.
CB: 8.2
Yep, that’s the highest score in here which should be expected considering our investment in CBs over the years. I could personally see another CB joining in case Mari leaves which should strengthen this position even more.
LB: 7.43
Another one that surprised. I guess quality wise Zinchenko and Tierney is good but Tierney has very much become a crock at this point. If something happens to Zinchenko I’m not confident Tierney will actually be there to cover for him.
DM: 5.93
Lowest score for obvious reasons. Partey is brilliant but as things stand his cover is Elneny. Now Elneny isn’t bad but that’s quite a drop-off. Lokonga seems more comfortable at #8 and Arteta admitted as such in a recent press conference. Ainsley and Xhaka could prove to be solutions here too but ideally this is definitely an area we could and should strengthen.
CM: 6.33
The choices here are similar to DM. Again, this is an area we could and should strengthen.
AM: 7.57
Good score and expected. Odegaard, ESR and Vieira provide good depth and quality here. We have used Saka and AMN here before as well so we definitely are covered.
RW: 7.6
I didn’t expect such a high score here, especially when you consider we’re actively trying to strengthen here there is some belief by the club that we lack in this position. Saka is great and Pepe is out favour. Then you have Reiss, ESR, Martinelli who can cover there but are better off playing on the left. Jesus is another option but then you lose a striker option.
LW: 6.67
I think the score here is somewhat fair. Martinelli and ESR are good options, and we do have other players who can play here if needed. Still, it does feel like the side could use another winger to get to the next level.
ST: 7.33
I had a high score myself but I didn’t expect people to vote so highly on it as well.
Auba and Laca may have been the bigger names but for some reason Jesus and Nketiah just look much hungrier and dynamic which fit perfectly what this team is trying to do. There are some concerns over what happens in case both are out. It will most likely mean ESR or Martinelli play there. Ideally if a new forward comes, it would be good if they can also provide an option here.
I think you are over-rating what 7 means in such polls.
7 means acceptable
It’s not a bad score mate. 7-8 is pretty good considering things. Not many squads you’ll see 9s and 10s in a position unless you’re City or Chelsea(some years ago).
I imagine this is all 7s except for me and maybe another loser.
Personally I have concerns over Ramsdale. I don’t think he’s as good as he’s been made out to be. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dip compared to last season and I don’t feel like this is a position that’s sorted for a decade, though I’d be happy if he proved me wrong.

See, I don’t mind that as I can see him becoming the country’s captain and darling like Kane.
Habe no problem with the favouritism that will come with it.
That’s fine but your form has too be spot on and you have to be ready for the backlash if you slip up.
As long as it doesn’t become a distraction because it seemed he got a bit caught up in the glare of playing for a big club last season.
I trust Arteta will check the balance on this though tbf.
