My only concern is I don’t wanna see Havertz in midfield. He needs to start up top.
Whether it is this upcoming match or a future one, I think “you have solid competition” is a good message for Martinelli to receive.
My only question is are we in a position to take that risk? Martinelli has already had 18 months to show his worth and unfortunately hasn’t delivered the goods.
Wouldn’t it be worth starting someone who has got a point to prove and then hooking them if it’s not working?
Sterling should be in the highest of spirits to prove himself and wipe the floor with Spurs come this weekend. I hope haha
When are you starting your count?
March 2023 till now
That’s a bizarre starting point? He had an excellent 22-23.
1st March to 23rd April 2023 he scored 6 and assisted 3 in 10 games. Then he had 4 games without either and picked up an injury to end the season.
I think post the man city game he scored in is a much fairer staring point and even then there is some injury mitigation id allow for.
I agree. March through May I think he finished well… but then he fell off a cliff and hasn’t really recovered that form since.
Perhaps it wasn’t 18 months exactly but he’s been very poor for quite a while now.
Prefer moving zinchenko forward
than havertz back, in place of rice. Anyone else that comes in for odegaard has ‘big shoes’ to fill, and I wish them well. Time to show our ‘us against everyone else’ mentality.
He was our best forward in that awful run-in we had in 2022-2023.
Start Martinelli - we need to be secure defensively in the first 20 mins and his work rate is still exceptional.
He’s also as good as anybody in our squad to cause problems for Spurs’ high line. His threat will be there.
If he’s having another poor game, hook him at HT for Sterling.
I think Jesus is fit so we have a full cohort of 6 attackers to choose from. At minimum we will have Sterling plus one on the bench. We have options to change the game.
Yeah, even in shit form, I would definitely start Martinelli considering our current state.
His work rate and pace are a big asset considering we wont be able to conrol the midfield the way we would usually want.
As said, I’m still mostly curious how our midfield shapes up.
I would be quite suprised not to see Havertz starting as an 8 considering the players missing, while you could expect Partey to keep his spot.
Maybe Arteta actually goes for Partey as an 8. I guess that would cause the least distortions in our team.
No matter Arteta has barely used him there, out of him, Zinny, Timber etc, iz would be easest for him to adapt to that role and phycially I think he should be sharp enough to last about 60 mins there at least. Later we can just use 6 CBs if we have a positive result.
We could have Jorginho, Sterling and Havertz starting against spurs which is a bit different from when the ex Chelsea players we had were rejects like Cech, Luiz and Willian.
One injury/suspension we could have gone like for like, possibly two. But three should change how we go about it.
Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Partey, Jorginho, Havertz, Saka, Trossard, Martinelli
I think that team has plenty enough to punish Spurs tbh. I believe this is an excellent opportunity to showcase our strength in depth and superiority over Spurs.
Havertz and Trossard can interchange between the 9 and 10. Saka and Martinelli’s pace can keep Spurs accountable for their line and Zinchenko will add options in our build up to support the double pivot. Lets not forget Partey and Jorginho are experts at finding the 10 and releasing wide players.
For this game I feel we have the cover to go for 3 points.
Glory Glory Hallelujah ,
Europe’s biggest cash driven ( stick the Dosh in old Joe Lewis y fronts ) entertainment project goes marching on.
Add the new 30 storey hotel (get those tourist/Korean lot in sharp )you lot will be so bleeding envious and can’t sing that in a month of Sundays. Legacy fans can do one .
Another puzzling bizarre transfer window with a lot of punts and Levy’s main aim of reducing the wage bill by £30 million has left us with no real improvement but then football success isn’t his first criteria.
Ange is considered by a large part of the fan base as Levy’s Puppet. Lucky to get an opportunity in a top league and saying all the cock n bull you want to here . Even saying “We will challenge for the title” bollocks , the perfect yes man on the gravy train but for some incredible reason the media love him
.
High line will cost us as Ange never learns . Your injuries have evened things up somewhat but realistically your miles better . Sensible coaching, better players it’s yours to loose . We are on the verge of suicidal tactics every game but set pieces have improved with at last a new coach brought in.
You should be able to pick us off regularly as our inverted wingbacks will be on holiday stuck up your the penalty area .
Thanks for having me kindly , all the best old cocks ,
You’re old mucker .
Hello Botswana,
Is Brennan Johnson any good?
Hope you’ve been keeping well, Berko, me old china plate
He’s unbelievably useless. , can’t beat anybody, can’t hit the target, Another stupid expensive punt ( but wages low,) with no end product , but l’m sure anybody with half a brain knew that already. The new kid from Burnley will be a mark 2 .
The transfer policy is basically insanity.
Ah so I wasn’t delusional when I thought he was bland as fuck as a winger.
You would have a hard time replacing Son at this rate.
