What’s with letting players go for free, when the other party actually needs them, e.g. Mkhi and now Sokratis.

Essentially, what these clubs are doing is offering the player high enough wages for them to be open to a move, with the condition that they come for free.
Essentially, instead of that money going to us, it’s going to the player’s wages.
Which would all be fine if the cunts weren’t selling a centre back for like a top five all time fee for a fucking centre back. Give us some fucking money you cunts and pay him appropriate fucking wages if he’s the guy to replace Koulibaly.

The problem is that they have us over a barrel, as they know we need to sell players and get them off the wage bill. We should hold out and get a transfer fee for him and the likes of Mustafi, but potentially we risk losing him for free next summer and would still have to pay his wages for another year. Letting him go would save circa £5m which we could invest now. I wonder if this is why we haven’t let anyone go yet, because we are holding out for a small transfer fee for some of the players. Defo a strange window with not many European clubs spending much money at all.

Crazy to think United have dross like Maguire in their starting lineup and are letting Smalling go.
If I was a Man United fan who regularly watched Serie A I’d be pretty fucked off. He did a superb job there.
Smalling is and always has been very good at defending he just isn’t the strongest ball player but Roma played in a way that didn’t allow for him to have much time on the ball so his weaknesses weren’t exposed.
Crazy to think United are letting him go and relying on shit like Maguire and Lindelof just because they can pass the ball better.
