Anyways, I think @Trion makes an interesting point about the categories. I don’t mind the latest post being the default view option right now, but seeing as the site is in it’s early days, we could experiment at some point (not now obviously), trying out categories as default and see how that rolls as well.

That way we can find more analysis of pros and cons between the two options and see what long term is best for OA

There is a feature on Website Optimizer(Google product) wherein you can set the percentage of what landing page you want your users to be at.
You can then analyse the conversion rate to decide which one works the best.

We’ve just made some subtle changes. Firstly to the username sizes, now little bit bigger than before. Quote box colour a shade darker and name tagging (although we’re still playing about a little with the colour on this), the grey background removed, it now highlights when you hover of a name. Like so @Bl1nk.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but the more you use it the easier it is.
There are some great features on here, it must have taken a lot of work, well done to all involved in this.

One thing I’ve noticed that I definitely don’t like is how the “latest” tab seems to work.

For example, if you pull up the latest posts it’s a long list of all of the most recent posts, but the posts I’m not interested in reading aren’t cycled to the bottom. In the old forums you could see all new posts and the ones you didn’t want to read were cycled down the page on the next visit, under the header “recent posts unread” or something to that effect. It just seems I’m missing a lot of new posts in threads I’m interested in reading because it’s a big jumble. Maybe I’m the one doing something wrong?

Try using the unread tab.

It only tracks topics you’ve created, replied to or read for a while. So by definition you wont even see ones you dont want to there.

Hopefully it’s possible! On the desktop it’s not a massive issue but it would be awesome to have it on mobile!

Black background, reduces eye strain when using the website on your phone at night in bed etc.

I would use that option definitely. Black background, White text. Hopefully the option can be added in the future.

Sounds like a neat idea. When we were setting up the site, we tried to reduce the whiteness as it is a bit bright. It’s quite hard to have the kinda colour we had on the old site. But a darker background option would be handy to have.
