We might find it a little difficult to pay Serge with our Europa League level budget

If I can be honest I would rather Raphina.

If that’s what he’s asking for they won’t be selling cos no one else is paying a fee + that type of wage for Gnabs. He’s simply not that good.

That’s absolutely crazy money. €19m net is like £300k a week after taxes that’s an absurd amount of money to be turning down lol.

What that p/w in £?

@SRCJJ Thanks

Its not a stretch to suggest the player is after something around £350k+

Pre-tax that has to be like £500k a week or something dumb like that lol

The sources look sort of credible but I still find this hard to believe. Bayern were supposed to be cleaning up their wage bill this summer.

I initially read the ‘yet’ in that tweet as ‘net’ but i don’t think it’s suggesting that’s a post tax figure tbf. The point stands though.

Yep just realised that’s says yet now haha. I read it as net but still a crazy figure to pay him on top of what’s likely to be a generous transfer fee. If he’s refusing that kind of money at Bayern he must want serious money

Barca waiting in the wings next season with 700k a week? :eyes:

Yeah €19m is something like £300k/w.

On top of a £35-£45m fee? Nobody is paying that much for Gnabry.

Find that contract offer hard to believe in the first place tbh

You don’t Arsenal should if he’s willing?

Nah we’d rather persist with non finished article youngsters and hope they turn into top liner wingers.

I don’t think there’s anyway any club could justify that kind of outlay on Gnabry. He’s going to come with a sizeable fee and then you’re looking at wages and signing bonuses that obviously exceed the €19m a year Bayern have offered him so you’d imagine he’d want something like £350k a week and probably more including whatever bonuses he’s given.

I rarely care amount money spent these days but those figures seem out of whack for Gnabry. Not saying he’s not a top talent but that’s a massive investment

I do agree it’s excessive but also when you can’t currently offer being competitive in the premier league or Europe’s top club competition you’re gonna have to pay very high amounts to have a chance of luring top talent.

I just don’t see how we break into the top 3 or 4 consistently without bringing in 2 quality forwards.

It’s a hard situation because obviously Gnabry immediately uplifts the quality of the squad and if he was coming at a reasonable cost I’d say throw the money at him

But with Saka negotiations coming up, if we throw £350k at Gnabry and they both end up with 10-15 league goals next season then Saka is not going to put pen to paper on a £150k a week deal he’s going to push for Gnabry money too.

I just think that at £50m and £350k a week plus whatever millions in bonuses - I’m not sure. Transfer fees I don’t care about but wages are the real killer because we can’t have a wacky wage budget again

Saying that if we sign him I’d be absolutely ecstatic

Luis Diaz earns a reported* £60K p/w.

A big outlay of £50M~ but low wages for a player that looks really good. Good deals can be done for other players.

*Quick Google search on the wages.
