Largely agree with your assessment of personnel in midfield and defense, but I think it is a little over the top and extreme, especially when you consider we are missing 2 of our potential starting defenders, have a calamity in Moose, and an aging (and injured) Koss… Sokratis hasn’t been awful - he hasn’t been a top defender, but point me to the top defenders in the world right now - there aren’t that many and the last one cost a fortune.
WRT squad reliance, not sure I agree with that at all - if anything, Emery has shown a lot more willingness to change things up and challenge players than Weng did and I suspect if anything, he is more hamstrung by being given too many holes and not enough money to address all at once, or even twice.
I agree that a wing will take pressure off but not with the conclusion that it is less important than another CB… biggest issue we have is we really need a top CM, a top CB, and a top wing, and there is zero chance of all 3 coming in this summer - outside shot top CB, with a freebie signing like Rabiot then get a lottery ticket win with the wing (like a Fraser)… I still believe with a few departures we can spend upwards of 100 million.

Whether or not he makes the right decisions or passes he’s always a major factor in the game. If he gets it right we run riot. Specialist wing back.
He’s decent offensively but I’ll still question why our major attacking outlet is our wing back. It’s nice to have that as an option we’ve all seen how effective it’s been for lolpool and city, but it’s pretty much our only option and if it’s not working we’re fucked.

I don’t have the stats but I would say his output is on much higher ratio than we give him credit for.

Wasted good first half positions and showed his complete lack of composure. Nobody sums up how far we have dropped in quality terms than this drone.

It’ll be hard to offload all the dross we have in this summer, so i’m guessing this brainless donkey would still be here, and that alone makes me sick.

Ive never really rated him, yeah he runs a lot and gets in good positions, but he’s nothing than a fringe squad player in a top side.
If you’re poor defensively at least be great going forward but he isn’t even very good, pure hit and miss.
Was criminal how he spurned that chance, taking an extra touch when you have bricks for feet is a sackable offence.

This was the type of performance that had me thinking I never want to see the player again in our colors. It was so fucking gutting watching a professional capitulate time and time again when we were in the ascendency.

His final ball got to be one of the worse I’ve ever seen from a Arsenal player. He’s built like a tank and has pace to burn but he’s useless when you need him most with his final ball and his defending. A bit like Xhaka, the slow style of the German League probably suited them more but get found out in fast paced PL,

The fact that his final ball is so atrocious basically renders him a useless player for much of the time, because he’s so poor at defending as well. He doesn’t excell at enough things to be good enough, he just does well when driving forward into space but that’s about it.
He looked fine at times this season and I was warming to him for a period, but in the cold light of day we basically have a player who can’t defend, can’t pass, can’t cross with any accuracy and can only play in one formation.
He’s the definition of a one trick pony and the trick isn’t even something worth keeping him in the side. It’s really frustrating because now that we’re likely losing Monreal, we’re gonna have to really upgrade on this area whether Kolasinac is staying or not.
