Santi Cazorla

Fine. Don’t ever catch yourself singing “We’re by the greatest team, the world has ever seen” because…stats.

Granted I only saw these players in compilations, I never got a feeling thaat Wright was too far from Henry - atleast in goalscoring since compilations won’t show a lot of dribbling or passing for strikers.

doesn’t matter what you have (or have not achieved), when the old guys gathered, they talk about family and tease each other…

Simple as that. Whatever the reason, he was stopped.

Wrighty was a lethal striker, strong, brave and always gave 100% and loved the Arsenal. We were never going to win the title with him as the main no.9 though and when he did finally pick up a Premier League medal he’d been injured for much of the season and played a peripheral role.

He was great for his time, but football moved on quickly. Henry was a far more refined footballer by every metric. But, I think more fans love Wright than Henry because the frenchman has a more divisive personality and fucked off to Barcelona in his prime years.

I really do think that when you’re looking at players the fans love. You need to put away your spreadsheets and start to understand what “love” actually means.

Henry’s awrah makes him sort of untouchable. His arrogance also makes him somewhat unrelatable to average people. He’s a Greek god in a sense—awe inspiring but never in reach.

Wrighty is beloved even outside of Arsenal for the exact opposite reason. His story, his passion for football, the fact that we’ve all seen him be vulnerable, his honesty. It’s clear the young boys at the club love him.

Young fans, not even Arsenal fans, call him uncle Wrighty. Best club and PL ambassador.

100%.
Bergkamp was kind of the same, though he was with us longer and finished his career with us.
Adams was, until recently, universally loved by older fans. He was in reach though, nothing Greek god-like about him.

One night he crashed his way into a Hornchurch chinese takeaway I was waiting in. Clearly worse for wear. We hugged, he ordered, my food was ready, I woke up the next morning with a hangover and assumed Adams was in the same state but in his posher house a couple of streets away.

Like others, I’m not sure I would say Cazorla is a club legend, but definitely a character, and someone who is highly regarded by all.

I will never forget his stunning goal from his free kick against Hull City in the FA Cup Final in 2014. Great moment!

I don’t think football has moved on. Wright was an excellent striker with an ability to score a wide range of goals. He was so good in and around the box.

Henry was a different calibre of football but you’re talking about probably the best player in the history of the Premier League. But Wright belongs in any conversation of best strikers in the leagues history too. And he’s certainly better than any striker in the league right now save for Haaland

28-yr old Wrighty would absolutely feast in this league. The quality of defending is just as shocking as ever. 25-30 goals, without fail.

Martinelli scored goals by simply working the offside trap with his speed. The average goal scorer from back then who playing off the shoulder was a basic fundamental would have no problem scoring right now. Not to mention many of them could actually finish.
