Hopefully Arteta and Spalletti come to some understanding how he’s going to be played at club level. Calafiori would still be a better LB than Di Marco for Italy, but just worried for his future as CB for the national team.
Well fair but that’s still kinda what I mean, not just the 3 games at the euros but suddenly he’s on everyone’s radar because of it.
I don’t like players who shine for 6 months at club then get touted for 100m deals like Caicedo either tbh.
But I take your point he’s at least established a good season of form and a bit different from those pure tournament players I mentioned, trust what I hear as I’ve not watched.
I think what both of you are saying is fair. I think if he played for a more prominent club he would have more of a rep outside Serie A this season.
If Bologna were in Europe and they were doing equally well then people wouldn’t be unfamiliar with him.
For what is worth, I’m also concerned about the injury thing. It did feel like his body wasn’t helping him.
His record seems to have improved the last two years so I’d hope those issues are in the past.

Chelsea agree 30mill deal with Bologna for Calafiori in deal which will also see Casedei and Challabah go the other way.

So yeah, this basically means Arteta is not counting on Timber as a starting XI potential.
The injury left a big mark on him it seems, as many feared at the start.
I hope he can can be a decent squad player for a while at least.
Is it? I think it says more about Kiwior and Zinchenko if anything.
Timber will still get plenty of game time next season but unlike with Jesus, we have the depth to manage his minutes after his knee surgery.

Timber is likely to have setbacks as many players do after an acl injury. He’s probably going to have a number of 3 week type absences in the season.
And every time I’m sure there will be fans saying that he’s “cooked” or something. But it’s pretty par for the course.
Timber has every chance in the long run of having an excellent Arsenal career.
