You think if he wasn’t so good he’d more likely be the backup for Gabriel and Hincapie would be the LB?
Just seems that when he’s fit he starts, so hincapie is the backup for gabby instead.
Crazy to think he was seen as a liability defensively at the start of the year.
For all the praise he gets for his work going forward, he’s been impeccable defensively and has to be given more credit for that clean sheet record earlier in the season.

Always found this stupid. He’s a CB who was having to adjust to a completely new role and defend from completely new potions in a very difficult and physically demanding league.
I never had any concerns about his ability as a defender he has all the hallmarks of a top CB.

He was showing weaknesses at LB positionally though.
Maybe down to adjusting as you said but let’s not forget you were wanting him sold due to injuries.

Pretty much all his defensive work last season required him to defend against a counter attacking winger while running backwards on an angle. There’s not really a more difficult regular situation you are gonna find yourself in than that.

Wanting to cash in on him if his fitness record doesn’t improve is totally different point though. I’ve never doubted his talent I rated the guy before he joined Arsenal and I know how good he can be.

Hahah, I picked up on it immediately. Was ready to tag him. 
Such a cool customer. Never really flustered in defense and never a doubt in my mind that he was burying that penalty.
