Very worried for him this season. With Pepe, Lacazette, Auba, Iwobi, Özil, and Mkhi he’s just not gonna get minutes. Emery will prefer all of those to him.
Really wish we could sell one or two of Iwobi and Mkhi, Iwobi especially as we might get some value for him. The signings are good this summer but that kind of forward planning re: clearing space for young talent to actually make their breakthrough, is needed.
He really has some ‘zip’ to his passing I thought. I think if he’s given enough chances, he’ll grow into the role nicely. A decent showing today all together.
I thought he was ok but nothing to get overly excited about at this point, hopefully he continues to develop if he gets minutes as the season progresses.
I love the way he wanted to give, go and then demand the ball back. Some real nice interchanges he was involved with that progressed the ball really quickly to create space.
He will get quite a few minutes this season. Looking forward to seeing if he can take his chance, but he will have to do more if he wants to have a future here. Nonetheless, it was a solid if not spectacular first performance.
I know. I’m talking in general about Nelson. I’ve found his decision making abysmal at times since coming back.
He posted something a while ago, “cobwebs all gone”. Hope it’s just him being rusty.
Took that chance very nicely as well. It was rightly ruled out for offside but that’s still unlucky for Nelson who did everything right. Would have been lovely for him to get off the mark like that for us.
Really didn’t think he was offering much truth me told, I know he’s raw and gaining valuable experience, but I wasn’t surprised he was hooked at Half time.
Can’t decide if he has an easier or more difficult path to continued PL minutes than Willock, but both of them need standout games throughout the rest of August to stand a real chance
