Reiss Nelson (Loan: Fulham)

There’s a world of difference between them. Sterling had a big reputation in the game at youth level and was playing for Liverpool at 17.
He was nearly winning the League in his first season and comfortably supporting Suarez and Sturridge in the front line.

Like I said. Insane.

Even then though his end product was questionable and then got exposed once he moved to City.
Never rated Nelson much but there is a similarity in what they are good at(beating their man, low center of gravity, pace, etc.) and what they’re not so good at(mainly final ball).

Your describing half the premier League for the last five years with them similarities. Sterling was a completely different talent from his debut season.
You’ve just given us a Nathan Redmond comparison.

Not the point I made and Redmond could wish he was that talented. :joy:

You’ve just done a complete Alex Iwobi post here.

I’m not sure there’s any similarity in playing style between Nelson and Sterling at similar ages tbh

Sterling was very involved at a young age and was really good at passing and beating a player, if I remember correctly he was used on both wings, cam and wing back when he was 18 or 19.

Nelson appears to be good at linking up, with short passed but not much else.

Wow such an inspirational tweet, if Ricky thinks our manager is great then I’m totally fucking on board.

Normally I would sympathise with your sarcasm but I think it’s clear in this case Ricky knows his shit and is a quite authoritative take.

The point being missed of course that Raheem and Leroy were top talents who cost a lot of money before Mikel got to hand them bibs.

Or the fact that his brother may not be the most objective or un-conflicted person in the equation…

His agent

True true, but I heard his agent also said he has top class potential and that Arteta will turn him into a better version of Serge Gnabry.

Riess hasn’t shown anywhere near enough quality for me to believe he is going to be anything but another squad player for us, probably best suited for a mid to lower league team (which we are at the moment :ozil:).

Yeah, he’ll need to basically become a new player before I believe his ceiling is anywhere near top 4 quality.

He has facets of him game which are of the requisite level (one touch play and movement) but the rest of his game is in the mediocre talent bracket. Physically, he has the right attributes but there’s just a few things missing. The main thing is personality / confidence though, that’s what separates good talents from the great talents.

He has been one of our most hyped youngsters of the past few years but rarely has he evidenced that potential. Ofc want the guy to succeed because he’s an Arsenal academy player but there’s going to have to be a big jump if he is to make it here.
