Reiss Nelson (Loan: Fulham)

What are you basing that on? Because Saka has obviously performed better at senior level. I could have sympathy with the notion that is because of physical ability and Nelson maybe technically better and in time Nelson will be better.

Right now I feel like he’d be lucky to end up like Iwobi.

He sounds like a country & western singer with his name.:cowboy_hat_face:

Nelson in a nutshell. Despite the goal, that pass to Greenwood was clear as day but he just had to pick most odd man in that situation.

Still have nightmares of his performances early in the season. His choices make me want to headbutt a tree.

Despite it ending in a goal, still the wrong pass by miles.

I really want him to succeed, I still remain hopeful, but decision making like that is shocking.

Crazy how fast this kids stock has fallen, he must see that and surely he is trying his hardest to improve. I hope he doesnt ego it all.

He should quit football. Makes me hate the sport when I see stuff like that. Literally. Awful.

The pass to the left is the ideal pass but it’s not an easy one to make, there’s only a split second when Greenwood is reasonably close

Should be getting more minutes, hopefully he will with Freddie.

One of the best players we have in buildup.

Would be a better choice than Ɩzil as a #10

You want him playing over Pepe or Martinelli ?

Against a decent side think you can make a pretty good case that Nelson would be more useful. Let’s see Pepe do something against a team that doesn’t defend dastardly/isn’t shit before we declare him useful

Him and Pepe should share the RW depending on the situation.

He should be an option.

@AbouCuellar that’s an interesting idea as well.

Sokratis would do a better job than Ozil as #10 these days

Nelson really isn’t that good

Well in that case, let’s see Nelson do something useful before we’d declare him useful at all

I saw your comments in the match thread and absolutely agree - Nelson’s combination play is really good. Excellent one touch interplay and movement to receive the ball again. He is always looking to do this and it’s a really simple but effective way to progress the ball vertically.

Given the teams lack of confidence and direction atm, we really struggle to progress the ball effectively, but Nelson is excellent at finding pockets, laying off and then sprinting into space. Need players on his wavelength though for that to be really effective but you always see him doing this even if he doesn’t get the ball back.

I’m far from convinced he has a real future at Arsenal, but these qualities of his are valuable. Have always rated that side of his game. I’ve begun to despise seeing Auba out wide, so after PĆ©pĆ© and Martinelli, hopefully we see Nelson and Saka come in as the next options for LW / RW. Laca should only be coming in as rotation for Auba at CF.

Exactly. Hopefully Freddie has the balls to drop Laca permanently and keep integrating our abundance of talented wingers in the side. I’d definitely have Nelson over Saka right now as I have been underwhelmed by Saka ever since the Untied game, and Nelson has always been overlooked for some reason.

You could make a pretty good case that he’d be more useful against a decent side if he had demonstrated that he was useful for us against anyone, decent or not. Jury’s out on that front.

Right now I don’t think you can make any case at all. Though I’d be interested in hearing it anyway as I’m sure you’ll give it a bloody good go.
