Hmm is this the same John Obi Mikel who played for a Chelsea side that had a strong defense and hit on the counter all while spending 100s of million to do so?
I get why opposition fans hate it, it’s just how it is between fans but former players who played similar styles at times when we were criticised for trying to walk the ball into the net is quite funny.
Damn, I was doing so well staying away from football until I saw this take from JOM on Twitter .
The saltiness is incredible. Also, I don’t recall the last time we impeded the goal keeper deliberately. Why can’t opposition players protect their GK or… I dunno - learn how to defend?
As usual, one rule for every other club & another for Arsenal.
It’s just a lazy stereotype though. In reality, we’ve no idea what level of intelligence most footballers have, all we ever hear any of them talk about is football.
I did touch on it earlier but it is very funny that we used to be roundly criticised for being overly flashy and trying to score the perfect goal. This was often cited as a reason why we couldn’t win a title, because we couldn’t win ugly.
Now we do that and it’s not fair despite the fact any team can theoretically do the same thing.
I don’t really buy into the idea that the media specifically dislikes us more than any other side but the narrative around our play is such crap.
Also, in that graphic, it shows the last 10 title winners at that time had an average of 17.1 set piece goals per season.
