My god, Ronaldinho’s influence. I can’t believe nobody mentioned Thierry though. Fucking Owen got a fucking mention.

Btw, Soucek saying Cesc. Had to be a gooner growing up for sure.

Yeah he is. I remember reading an interview with him. He used to have Tomas Rosicky posters on his wall.

Ronald

What a player to pick for an idol. Absolute master. But I think most idolized him not just for his footballing ability but how likeable a character he was on the field. Always had a smile and you could tell he wanted to entertain.

haha I was reading something then this appeared as a notification on the top of my phone, I had a quick glance at it and thought it said Arsenal sack… and in shock had a proper second look to double check :joy::joy::joy::joy:

A direct free kick can be given anywhere on the pitch. So it’s possible that you get one given somewhere in your penalty area or defensive third.

The only scenario I could ever see this happening is a pass backwards to the goalkeeper who either falls over before controlling the ball, or the ball hits a bobble and rolls into the goal.

So strange that a goal isn’t given for that. Great bit of random knowledge though.

Random question but who are players who played in England past their prime tbat you’d love to have seen at their best here?

Cavani and Ibra are two obvious examples in my eyes. Both world class players who arrived in England with their best days behind them.

Davor Suker for us too. I’d Also throw Cambiasso too who had a stellar year at Leicester before leaving after one year.

Edit: in light of what @shamrockgooner says it doesn’t necessarily have to be for the team they played for btw lol

I’ll say Henrik Larsson

As a few people already mentioned, Larsson absolutely.

Then maybe Davids, Mendieta… Kluivert, Nakata… Djorkaeff…

Davids is another one. One of my favourite midfielders ever.
