Well they are but it’s become an unwritten rule that seemingly has been introduced by the clubs.
Had a bit of criticism for it by all accounts.
I wouldn’t have Kevin Doyle in my first 11 personally, solid player and for a while looked a potential top level PL player especially his time with Reading but slowly faded. It shows why we’re always struggling to ever been a threat in international scene, when you look at Croatia for example a smaller country but yet they churn out top talent at a alarming rate.
Just considering PL era and played in PL though it’s probably correct to have him in there, depending on formation.
Robbie Keane in a one man attack?
Robbie Keane would be lost without a target man alongside him. He wouldn’t have got half the record he did for Ireland without one.
With the players there I’m feeling an Argentina/Inter player. Was thinking Veron but not played with or under Zidane for a start.
This one is a bit of a head scratcher
Edit: is it Cambiasso?!?! It’s got to be, right?!
Respect. It’s surely cambiasso. I gave up, wrecked my head with this one tough one.
Cambiasso is a great shout
Shout? It’s not cambiasso?
I dont know the answer
It can’t be as he can’t have won player of the year for Leicester? But it’s a great shout
It’s surely him. Ticks all the boxes.
He won it in 2014/15, you are thinking about the wrong season
Jeez you’re right!! Well done Jakey
whether you think him or Messi is the ‘best’ he makes that very valid point that either way these two are the best to ever grace the game, no doubt in my mind, and the reason is taking how long they dominated into what you call ‘best’. You can find hundreds of players that were the current ‘best’ for short spells like a game or a month or a season, but it is unprecedented to, as he says, score 40-50 goals a season for a decade and to have two players do that at the same time when competition nothing but increases… we’re lucky to watch it happen in front of our eyes.
Female referee for the European super cup tonight. Thats a progressive step in many ways.
Interesting thread on VAR. I definitely agree with this!
VAR was introduced in the world cup and done reasonably well on the clear and obvious direction.
The goal Saturday is clearly anything but that.
It needs drip feeding in and the already grey area of offside needs clearing up before any introduction of red lines imo.
I know these things have to start somewhere but it feels a bit cynical to me. Although termed a final it’s a match of little consequence but it’s something UEFA want to be able to say they did and aren’t they great and inclusive.
