Random Arsenal stuff

I was thinking of resurrecting this thread:

I watched the 2000 UEFA Cup Final on x3, thinking I could stay emotionally detached from it… I was wrong. To be fair, I barely remembered anything about the match going in.

Galatasaray were clearly the better side for most of the 90 minutes. Arsenal, by contrast, looked like a team without a clear attacking identity.

Overmars was probably our standout player. Just give him the ball and let him run. But it wasn’t until Kanu came on that things started to shift. He finally gave us a proper link between midfield and attack, something we were badly lacking all match. What a technician he was.

Extra Time
Hagi got sent off, and I was reminded that the Golden Goal rule was in effect.
Arsenal really should have won it then. Overmars, Henry, and Kanu all missed massive chances. I’m honestly stunned none of them scored. One goal and it would’ve been over.

I couldn’t even bring myself to watch the penalty shootout.
Also discovered Arsenal lost three separate shootouts that season. How is that even possible?
