Right. Now toss that cunt in the garbage and do your thing for THE ARSENAL, Raheem.

As a deal, this is a great one. We get another body in attack, who can cover both wings, and on his day, can be a match winner.

However, I am not expecting him to make a significant difference to our attack. Given he offers very little going backwards, he’ll mostly be used as a sub. He’ll have his moments, will get us some goals and assists but he’s definitely not that transformational player that wins us the league.

Having said that, can always hope for a miraculous transformation of Raheem with Mikel’s inputs.

Raheem the dream it is then :joy:

Happy because it looked like we weren’t going to get anyone, or because you think Sterling will make a difference for us.

Upgrade on Nelson and I’m hopeful Arteta can get something out of him.

Also because the cost is relatively low.

I hope he has a blinder of a season, I think he just might have an axe to grind with the plastics so that could be good for us.

Nah, this is a smart move by Edu. Of course it’d have been better if we could’ve signed a youngish winger permanently, but when no such players were available and push came to shove, loaning in Raheem and loaning out Nelson was the best possible move, as Raheem on one leg is better than Nelson. He’ll also want to have a decent season to earn that move to Al Ahli next summer, so that should play in our favour as well.

As a deal, this is absolutely a master stroke, no arguments there. And he is better than Nelson so can’t complain there either.

Time will tell if Mikel can get the best out of Sterling, but as you pointed out, this was not a planned signing so that makes me wonder if Mikel really rates him now or just gave the nod to have another body in attack.

If Sterling has an average season, we haven’t lost a lot. Can send him back to Chelsea. No harm done. I think at minimum he will massively outperform anything that Nelson was going to give us.

On the other hand, if Sterling has a great season, we get close to the title again. And then in the summer, Arsenal / Sterling have Chelsea over a barrel. We could probably get him on another loan or even a free transfer.

We have won either way.

Sterling is a genuine big name signing for us too. He’s got x factor. Makes us more intimidating.

What’s his contract situation if we did want to sign him next summer? I’m assuming he’s not on one of Chelsea’s 20 year deals?

This deal seems too good to be true. We seem to have got everything our own way. Have we checked that Chelsea haven’t removed any of his vital organs?

Vital for???
:joy::joy::joy:

Looks to be a five year deal and he joined them in 2022.

Exact same feeling as I had with Havertz last summer, a massive no for me, but look at what happened last season. That’s not to say that Sterling follows the same path however, it looks like the terms we got him in for kind of make this a win already.

Totally changes the perspective of our attack now and like @Sol mentioned, his base output will most likely be an improvement on whatever Reiss was going to yield for us.

It keeps the lot dry for next summer, where you would certainly expect us to make some attacking signings. Surely.

Number 10 shirt confirmed.

Who knew, at the start of the summer our new #10 would be Raheem fucking Sterling :joy:

I was really worried about us sinking a transfer fee and big wages into this as a permanent deal. But this transfer is basically risk free with only upside. Sterling is a much better option than Nelson.
