Premier League 2023/24

Julian Warren would have been my choice, he’s pretty decent on the champions league nights

Can’t get rid of the rat ffs

fuck sake, now I have to see the ugly prick every week as well? He’s just going to defend all the poor decisions from the refs _ and he despises Arsenal.

I mean, you don’t have to watch it?

Last couple of seasons, if I’ve been around I’ve opted for BT’s score show instead, as Jules Breach was better to look at

And this is what all the TV refs do anyway.

Truth.

I suppose that’s what I’ll have to do with Jeff Stelling and TalkSport. He’s always been a “middle of the road” chap and, therefore, a class act. On TalkSport, he’ll have to have an opinion (whether that means ridiculing a fan or a pundit or both) and that’ll make him hated in some quarters.

As a Talk Sport presenter, the most controversial thing you can do is not be controversial. :grinning:

I consume a lot of football content as you know but I think I’ve yet to hear anyone back us to win the league, even after our transfer business.
Funny thing is, I can’t blame them. Rice can be a game changer and Timber will come in very handy too. I think the main concerns are around Havertz. I feel he can be the deciding factor in the upcoming season, tipping the scale really.

I guess something that gets undermined is how much the existing team can improve after last year’s experience. We’ve got a very young team that’s been growing year-on-year. While disappointing in the end, last season should in theory be a very good learning experience for the lads to grow even further.

There’s lots of reasons I’m not super optimistic we will win the league so can understand why others think the same

  1. our second half of the season form dropped of a lot compared to our peak, (found out by teams?)
  2. our run in was truly awful
  3. Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Xhaka all massively overperformed xG. can we manage the same again.
  4. Can we actually reach last seasons peaks without Partey in the 11?
  5. Is Havertz just a bit shit ?
  6. Is arteta going to be more flexible with his lineups
  7. More bigger games to contend with

this is why i want another goal scorer and a prolific one to give a different dimension to the team. cant just rely on the wingers and midfield like last season to score same number of goals.

I think as things stand, we’ll finish 2nd with our current squad.

Losing Xhaka, Partey and Balogun and having Timber, Rice & Havertz isn’t enough.

A few weeks back I was against the idea of needing a striker, but now I think we definitely need another offensive-minded player.

Both Saka and Jesus had about 2 months of extremely poor form and their replacements couldn’t do much better unfortunately.

Given how crap we are defensively, if our attack wanes — we’re fucked.

Alternatively, if we can concede 15 fewer goals next season, then I think we win the league or at the very least come much closer.

Have missed something, Balogun and Partey are still here, no?
And on Balogun, what are we losing compared to last season? He wasn’t here anyway, so he’s a plus if he stays and if he goes it makes little difference.

That’s harsh, no?
Offensively, we actually did quite well from April to May.

Yups they’re both still here, but reports sound like they’re both set to be sold if the offer is right; we could raise up to £80m for them combined. Which should be enough to get almost any forward player apart from Mbappe/Osimhen.

If he was with us last season, I feel like he would’ve contributed more than Eddie did and his performance in Ligue 1 supports this from my view.

So if he stays we’re ok going forward, if he leaves — then we need 1 more forward player cause whilst we have depth upfront, we don’t have depth in quality.

I think Saka had about 7-8 games on the trot where he was awful; likely because he was overplayed.

Arteta clearly doesn’t trust Nelson as a direct replacement right now, so we’ll likely need another option as there is virtually no competition for Saka atm.

The arrogance lol.

Its the English Premier League. No one forced you to watch a league in a different timezone :clown_face:

Yeah fuck that.

You don’t see them moving the Super Bowl to Saturday and playing it earlier on a Sunday to appease international fans.

Additionally that’s also why I think the NFL is being held back massively in terms of international expansion. The vast majority of Europeans who would have even a slight interest in the Super Bowl are not going to stay up until 3:30am on a Monday to watch it.

You can host as many matches in Wembley as you want but until you make the biggest NFL more accessible it won’t so shit.

When we play on Saturday in the late game I usually have to bring my son to bed during the first half so it would be great if we could start those games an hour later as well. Where can I request this?

Actually we do, and almost every week not just super bowl

Bout time though that the yanks put some decent games at Wembley, Germany whatever…not the fuckin jets and jaguars.

You might but you’re obviously a dedicated fan, you won’t get critical mass that way

This is good. Fuck the timewasters. No mention of goal kicks though, which are some of the biggest time sucks.

Get ready for 10 minutes of extra time on a regular basis.

Shame for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle lol. World’s biggest timewasters.
