Premier League 2023/24

When they were in form, they did play some breath taking and attractive football.

At least I can say, their CL win was not a fluke.
They raised to a standard that they could never get back to.

It was really high.

I was watching and thinking the exact same thing :joy:

Crystal Palace on a tear lately 5-2 west ham and now Newcastle

And they don’t really have anything to play for

It’s not just the titles they won.

In most other PL eras, Klopp would easily have at least 2, probably even 3 PL titles by his name…

I mean, getting 97 (97!!) points and not winning the title… That just sounds stupid.

Getting 99 points in the season they won it, 92 points in another season.

That Liverpool team definitely belongs to the best teams the PL has seen so far, withouth a doubt.

totally agree

New manager bounce, it’ll wear off by the start of next season :joy:

Honestly when Palace have everyone fit, they have a decent team. Eze and Olise and then Wharton in midifield looks pretty impressive. I like Andersen too.

Those Liverpool/City teams were so good, I’m not even sure our invincible’s team would come out unscathed.

Salah is so washed. What has happened to him

Age mostly

He has been playing at a break neck pace for 7 seasons in the PL, crazy amount of games and minutes with such an explosive game.

He’s still very good but that decline always comes for the explosive guys especially those that have been putting in dat work in the PL

He’s never had to deal with bad injuries before and that last one that made him drop out of AFCON may still be lingering.

I see it in Robertson as well. He was so good, but has been missing something for the last two seasons.

People were already saying it a couple of years ago. Klopp’s style is amazing to look at but it wears you out and at some point you just can’t keep it up anymore. No shame in that, it probably means you can get everything out of players for two or three season and after that you should replace them.

Klopp is not leaving that great a squad at Liverpool. I honestly believe they will finish in the fourth place - sixth place range in the coming two seasons at least.

God bless Everton.

Klopp is the only reason for their recent success so they certainly won’t be challenging for the title and they could go the same way as Man U and Man City.

Their best players like Salah, TAA, Robertson and VVD are either past their peak or could leave.

They’ve got decent quality like Allison, Diaz, Jota, Mac Alister and Darwin but realistically they aren’t going to win the title so with Klopp gone they might struggle to keep this team together.

It’s strange that next season Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool might all be outside the CL places but it’s also very funny. :grinning:

Yes Robertson is declining too, these top coaches demand a hell of a lot from their players both on and off the ball.

The same goes for Arteta as well, the way these guys are being flogged will likely have the same result for some especially if they’re being asked to do it year in year out over and over to compete for the biggest titles.

Odegaard and Saka for example, the former has an insane workrate off the ball which just isn’t sustainable. Fortunately he won’t be at the Euros so gets somewhat of a break.

Saka though is a concern because he’ll always be playing for England and has been clocking up a huge amount of minutes from a very young age, doesn’t bode well for longevity.

Crucial we recruit well in the summer so that we can rotate more for the seasons to come otherwise these guys may get a lot of wear and tear.

Tonight I love shitty English beaches in Brighton

Hope they nick some points of them, 3 points would be early Christmas present
