I don’t think that is necessarily true. They never needed to raise their game, we just tended to roll over for them. Hopefully that is no longer the case.

Missing a classic at Brighton
First goal he’s out of position then tries to move back out to his spot leaving Alvarez wide open in the middle.
Second he’s too busy at RW and gets beaten too easily to the ball by gundogan but I actually give him a pass on that one.
Third goal you can call it unlucky but he plays the ball right to gundo 5 yards out n tries to stop it with his hand.
Fourth goal he gets beat with the pass then jogs back while grealish (goalscorer) runs past him to knock it in.
He’s utter dogshit.

Its a comment on Alvarez as an individual, and how £14m is a bargain for a player of his quality, not a comment about City being put together on a shoestring budget. Not sure the tweet is the gotcha that person thinks it is really.

It’s true that Alvarez might have cost 14m but the fact that the players supplying him cost around 500m seems to have been ignored.
