Auba owes us nothing: we bombed him out. It wouldn’t be much fun to see him scoring for Chelsea, but I wouldn’t turn on him unless he did an over the top celebration if he scored against us.
Won us an FA cup, keep his respect.
Auba did his job at Arsenal until he couldn’t anymore and then got moved on for free. He’s never said a bad word about the club and he’s kept it respectful.
If he moves to Chelsea it’s a simple case of a football player making a move that be suits his career he has no long term connection or affinity to Arsenal.
Yeah. football player changes employer shocker.
Some of the fans might hate to hear it but Arsenal is just an employer to them they have no connection or feelings to the club.
Auba still has a strong relationship with Tuchel as well, so can’t really hold it against him if he does choose to play under a manager who got the best out of him.
Meh, Auba who…thanks for the memories but his time has passed. Wouldn’t be upset no matter who he signs for now, his best days are behind him
My issue is with him not being able to do his job after the bumper new contract.
I don’t know what happened but he went from winning us the FA Cup to being shit in the space of a few months. And he remained shit for 1.5 years, essentially betraying the trust that the club put in him. And then he had all those disciplinary issues. With such a young team, Mikel needed a senior pro to show them the way on and off the pitch, and he went and did the opposite. Just very unprofessional.
Personally, am not bothered with him going to Chelsea. I don’t care if he joins the Scum TBH cause I won’t remember him as a great Arsenal player, just someone who was good for us for a while.
Come on now. We took him out of the team, sent him packing to Barca for which he sacrificed a chunk of his pay for when he could have stuck around and keep pocketing money from the club for doing nothing.
He’s past his best, Barca are now potentially forcing him out. I doubt he has clubs lining up for him. Chelsea is probably one of his only choices, if not the only one. I can’t hold it against him if he joins them.
Exactly Hills
Had a massive strop , we gave him the captains armband shoved thousands in his bank account for him to do what ……
Treat the club with disrespect, show arrogance and tried to be bigger than The Arsenal yet that’s ok , he’s still a legend , thank you PEA .
Who has even come remotely near to calling him a legend?
I think turning up late for a NLD (no less), not listening to the manager’s instruction of how and when to report in after having been abroad and actually being in Barcelona before a deal was struck (Odemwingie vibes) definitely push it into disrespect for me, too.
He made wrong decisions, had some beef with Arteta, but those did not warrant the treatment he received from the club and being completely left out of the squad. COMPLETELY.
In the end, none of us know the true story behind and what exactly happened.
He was kind of stop scoring after the new contract, but our team and overall game play was bad also.
The blame should not be on him alone. We just played terrible as a team, not just PEA missing chances.
That’s why it is so important to name the right player as the captain.
PEA could not “lead” and not a spirited person. When difficult times came, he could not lead the team out of the slump and get back on track.
When things are running smooth and everybody is in form, anybody can be the captain.
Only the tough time can see who should be it; and that is why I don’t think Odegaard is the right choice.
What I have seen from the documentary and future snippets is that Auba didn’t feel like being late or not returning to the UK on time was a big deal and so didn’t feel the need to make amends for something that was clearly a big deal to Arteta.
Arteta had a player setting a bad example repeatedly and ultimately doing nothing would only ultimately undermine his position as manager within the club. He took away the captaincy and Auba still felt he wasn’t in the wrong and so Arteta made a stand, excluded him from the squad and ultimately let him leave.
I can fully respect Arteta’s decision to cull him, you cannot reward “bad” behaviour, otherwise what stops the next player from doing the same thing…
Lol, Chelsea can have an aging, fast declining Auba. He showed how fast he declined in the last 18 months he was here. It’ll be fun to see him stinking the joint up at Chelsea
I did not say he was clean and not at fault.
I was just saying (if) being late was the issue, the punishment was not appropriate.
Was it something that could not settle behind doors and it led to sending him away for free?
Thing is if Areta feels he did something wrong (continuously late) and repeated offences is a big thing but Auba feels being late is meh, deal with it, I will be late as often as I want…
Arteta talks over and over (he kept detailed notes of the conversations and attempts to correct behaviour), then he says OK, no longer captain is the next step. If Auba is like so what, and continues the behaviour. Arteta then says OK no longer in the squad. If Auba continues behaviour, how do you reintegrate him.
If Auba will not acknowledge he is wrong and decide to turn up on time moving forward, there are not many alternatives - let it go unpunished and set a precedent for other players or keep escalating until as a final resort he removed him from the squad.
won’t disagree but I believe communication is 2-way.
I don’t see (correct me if I am wrong) any minor disciplinary action like benching was taking place before a complete left out.
It was like, “I told you so” a couple of times, and that’s it.
Lukaku > Aubameyang. Downgrade for Chelsea
Very true. He could have quite an impact on that Chelsea team knowing how good he performed under Tuchel earlier.
Lukaku failing at Chelsea is a genuine stain on Tuchel. He literally has years of how to use him mapped out and he ended up playing him in a system that barely supported him and never played to his strengths.
