I think it’s more likely Calafiori ends up back at CB than this guy. He seems (from what I’ve read / seen) someone who can provide more traditional width as a FB so think we will value that highly this year.
Yeah, just read some comments about him. Apparently did play a lot as a LB in a back 4 last season, quite a rapid player. Could be a very interesting option at the LB.
Very highly rated for a while, many fans of other teams wanted him.
He was one of the players we were looking at for LB back in 2022.
He’s quite an aggressive player, which I think Arteta loves in players. Think he’ll see plenty of game time.
Hincapie - Gabriel - Saliba - Timber
will be the de facto back 4 before we know it, at least until white is back.
I fully expect 8 or 9 players to be locked in for almost every game and mostly our entire left side that will see changes depending on game. Cala, merino and martinelli will rotate in for hincapie, rice and Eze.
MLS may see less game time without a Cala injury.
I shouldn’t tempt fate, but it’ll be really, really, really shit if we get another early cup exit.
I partly wonder whether White will get into the first team with this back four? Individually this looks like the strongest defence since 2004. Potential to be even stronger as the season progresses?
White isn’t getting in especially with him looking broken
Ben White was great for us but I think he will go the way of Ramsdale and be a bench option until he says he wants to leave
White is better for our game when he’s fit but it was more that I think there will be ample rotation between the two and white will start his fair share of games. His overlapping runs give us a lot down the RHS.
I think you’re right. Calafiori will be the backup/rotation for Gabriel. Hincapie will offer us lots of options on the left. I originally wanted us to sign Hato, but I’m now sold on this transfer.
The buzz about this deadline day signing is almost too much to take ![]()
What will be his squad number?!
Yay! ![]()
BUZZING ABOUT THIS ONE
Sarcasm aside, I actually am pretty pleased, but I can’t feel enthusiastic about football just yet after yeaterday.
Really bummed me out.
I’m still really pissed off about the result yesterday. However, after reflecting on everything today, for the first time in a long while I don’t fear Liverpool. For 82 minutes we held them comfortably, and other than that top quality free kick, we would have come away with a draw at the least. We didn’t deserve to lose and we don’t deserve all the negative crap from the pundits and those with agendas against our club.
We have the ability to go toe to toe with them this season and beat them to the title. I still have faith in Arteta and the squad we now have. Keep the faith!
I don’t fear them when we play them, though I do respect their ability to hurt us on their day. But what I fear is their ability to beat on other teams, which I think exceeds ours.
