Oh damn. So we can back out if he stinks.
The squad is actually stacked now, never thought iâd see the day
Weâve waited for this moment for like 20 years
The most stack since I start following in 2011-12
So this is how City fans felt all those years.
Damn, He expensive
I dunno, Ben White cost us about that years ago, and things have inflated since. If heâs good the fee wonât look much.
Striker aside. We donât have the depth but gyokeres obviously I hope is class.
ÂŁ45m seems pretty much in line with what youâd expect for a player of his ilk, with respect to the market.
I have no issue with the fee. Seems to be the going rate these days. I like that he is a title winning defender with Bayer Leverkusen who played under Alonso. I think that bodes very well for us. Seems a good versatile defender, who can put in a cross, is dangerous at set pieces and has a bit of South American flareâŚwhatâs not to like?
I think this looks like another great bit of business!
I am just thinking of him as a backup defender right now
Fair enough if they think he is good enough to surpass Gabriel & Calafiori. If not, thatâs a hefty price for a squad player.
How would you define âsquad playerâ in this instance?
Obviously at this stage we donât know how much anyone will play this season, but I think youâre mistaken in thinking of him as a âsquad playerâ and someone like Calafiori as a âstarterâ. With such a deep strong squad the distinction between the two will be less important than ever in several areas of the pitch (so Iâm not talking about someone like Saka, who will basically always start)
But even if he is a squad player in the traditional sense, I think these thatâs not an outlandish figure, and is often what top teams will end up paying for them.
We do not go through this effort of stacking out the squad this entire summer for Arteta to default to a select 11 group of players for every game.
I think most weeks, you will see the spine of the team playing but we can switch up a number of positions to keep things fresh.
The transfer of Hincapie signals more of a conclusion for MLS ever playing there again (unless there was an injury crisis). Riccardo simply wonât be able to play every minute and weâre clearly managing his minutes, which is fantastic. But this transfer follows suit in that they want a left-sided bomber.
I can see him sharing the minutes with Riccardo across the season. He looks pretty great from some of the clips Iâve seen if him.
This is not a squad player weâre buying at that price.
A Gabriel long term successor possibly?
