Piero Hincapie (5)

Big fan of this lad so far. Glad the move will be a permanent one.

You’d be surprised at how many really dim people are on the internet. Hand of Arsenal was probably seeing posts making up shit about him going to another club in the summer.

He’s not some random shit-poster and is clearly well connected. It’s more ā€œclarificationā€ than ā€œnewsā€.

Anyway, Hincapie played really well again I hear. I was out last night so only saw the highlights, most of which involved us nearly conceding.

He’s become one of Mikel’s favourites.

His South American tenacity and fight is absolutely joyous to behold. He is up for a battle and loves a scrap. Reminds me of Lauren with that mentality - he cannot be bullied or intimidated. Great engine on him too.

A very welcome addition to the squad. I wouldn’t say that he’s the standout LB in the team, because I think Ricky is brilliant and also Myles is class (albeit learning) - but he’s first choice right now. When he shifted to CB, he made some vital headers and clearances.

Arteta and his coaches / scouts absolutely know how to buy defenders. We buy straight bulldogs every time.

Now can we do the same thing with our upfront & midfield talent please

In the box too! Had my head in my hands yesterday when he done this! :grimacing:

Excellent tackle though! Perfectly executed.

Also how fucking in tune of their responsibilities are these guys
I have seen so many defenders get drawn to the ball but Hincapie immediately changes route to drag the winger out. The tackle was an extra garnish

No way he should get drawn to the ball in a situation like that, as a left back.

He just did his job. Would be amateur stuff from him if he didn’t cover that area there.

I absolutely adore Calafiori, and think he has had a fantastic season, but I am really starting to fall in love with Hincapie. He is an absolute beast of a defender and has an extra edge and bite to his tackles which I love. I can imagine attackers hate playing against him. Such a pleasure to watch him, and he was so unlucky tonight not to be on the scoresheet.

If you can get them all fit - Timber, White, Calafiori and Hincapie - is an insane set of options in the full back positions.

Add to it Gabriel, Saliba and Mosquera and I don’t think there is really another club in world football with even an argument of having a better set of defenders.
